It’s very bittersweet to me to know that I survived breast cancer because Henrietta Lacks died and ended up being the unconsenting medium for medical research Especially because my grandmother died of her cancer at 37

Black History Month spotlight: Henrietta Lacks. After her death from cancer in 1951 at age 31, her cells became the HeLa cell line. These cells were foundational to modern cancer research. Taken without her consent, her contributions weren’t recognized until decades later. #nursesky #medsky

"Reforms" to ICE, like requiring judicial warrants for arrests, are not enough. This administration has made it clear that they have no intention of abiding by the law. Anything short of stripping funding from this tyrannical agency is failure by Congress. bit.ly/4btALBD

Internationally educated nursing staff (IENs) make vital contributions to the UK’s health and care services every day, but UK government proposals to overhaul the Indefinite Leave to Remain system fail to recognise the value these staff bring. (1/2)

All across the state, nurses took action this weekend to mourn the murder of Alex Pretti. We're ready to channel our horror and anger into real action for our communities — we're calling for an immediate abolishment of ICE!
A group of eight people standing together outdoors at night, some holding signs. The signs read "When You Attack One of Us, You Attack ALL of Us!" and "WILL CRUSH ICE FOR OUR PATIENTS!". One person is holding a candle. Trees and buildings are visible in the background.
A group of people standing on a grassy roadside, holding signs with messages for a protest. The backdrop shows a building with the sign "Providence." The sky is clear and blue.
A group of people standing in front of a memorial display outdoors. The display includes candles, flowers, photos of an individual, and a sign saying, "Nurses care. No exceptions." Another sign states, "Our patients' rights have no borders." They are near a wall with carved portraits and holding candles. A dog is partially visible on the right. It's nighttime, and the area is softly lit.

Union nurses condemn the Trump administration’s attacks on Haitian immigrants — these political attacks do nothing but hurt our communities and rip families apart.

The Trump admin is ending Temporary Protected Status for Haitians, essentially firing 300,000 workers who are essential to our communities and economy. We urge President Trump to redesignate Haiti TPS and avoid destabilizing families across the country.

It's Black History Month, a time to celebrate the impacts & contributions of black people the world over throughout history. Do you know Mary Seacole? She was Florence Nightingale's contemporary during The Crimean War, to whom she was foundational to modern nursing practice. #nursesky #medsky

I'm the plant nurse at my facility. 4 of the 5 orchids I care for are all re-blooming at the same time. This particular one I found abandoned downstairs on our outdoor patio. It looked weak, but salvageable. Voilà.

Nursing teams handle potent, lifesaving medicines every day. Yet there are no consistent UK guidelines or even clear definitions of hazardous medicinal products (HMPs). We're calling for stronger safeguards to keep staff safe from harmful exposure. Learn more in our latest magazine piece. ⬇️
