Impact of measles on the body's immunity to other infections making individuals more vulnerable to infections and the risk of long term complications are the things that I worry most about from measles disease. Agree the importance for individuals to understand it is not just an acute illness.

Measles causes more than an acute illness: it suppresses immune memory and increases the risk of complications for years. Even in a typical case of measles, children who survive the infection recover slowly.
