I remember watching Ananda on MTV. She died at 52 from a preventable & treatable form of cancer bc she worried mammogram radiation would give her cancer. She then declined treatment when diagnosed, which she regretted when it was too late. The “wellness” industry is literally scaring people to death
Ananda Lewis chose 'natural' cancer care over conventional treatment. Many others do too -- and it's risky

Ananda Lewis chose 'natural' cancer care over conventional treatment. Many others do too -- and it's risky

While less than 1% of cancer patients refuse conventional therapy, some choose alternative care, which can have dire consequences.

He took over a small antivaccine group he liked in 2015, turned it into his own propaganda & money-laundering org that became the biggest antivaxx source in the world and made him more than $20K/week. You have to be very intentionally stupid to think this started in 2020 or was ever about liberalism

'Why can we not acknowledge that there is truth in both positions?' Miasma theory posited that diseases like cholera were caused by “bad air” coming from the sick and dead, or even just spreading in dark clouds at night. Later versions suggested obesity could be caused by inhaling the odor of food

WTF is this - why is NPR quoting some obscure health policy guy from a think tank both sides-ing miasma theory?

Medicare beneficiaries in the most rural areas are more likely to have lower incomes than beneficiaries in urban areas. And rural Medicare beneficiaries are more likely to also be enrolled in Medicaid than those in urban areas (23% and 18% respectively). on.kff.org/3SQMKie
Bar chart titled "a larger share of Medicare beneficiaries in rural areas are covered by both Medicare and Medicaid than beneficiaries in urban areas." The chart shows a comparison of Medicare and Medicaid coverage in urban and rural areas. The chart indicates that 77% of beneficiaries in rural areas are covered by Medicare only compared to 23% with Medicare and Medicaid, while in urban areas, 82% are covered by Medicare only and 18% have both Medicare and Medicaid. The source of the data is the CMS, analyzed by KFF.

the newly elected dekalb county (GA) sheriff derwin brown getting assassinated by the incumbent sheriff he beat in his driveway in 2000 is another example. but yeah it’s rare

I don't know if this needs to be said or not but "elected official assassinated in their home" is simply not a thing that happens in this country. 1825, 1889, 1893, 1973. Those are all the ones I can find, ever, before today.

⚡KFF’s @mattmcgough.bsky.social writes about how the tariff-driven expectation of higher prescription drug prices is causing some health insurance companies to increase premiums for 2026. #QuickTake on.kff.org/3FR7CTy
KFF graphic featuring a quote from Matt McGough, KFF Policy Analyst for the Program on the ACA and the Peterson-KFF Health System Tracker. It says, “President Trump has vowed to imposed tariffs on a wide variety of goods from multiple countries. While consumers may expect the price of some imported goods to go up, what may be surprising is that these tariffs are already driving health insurance premiums up.”
