Pern proceeded to explain the Moon Palace had no magical protections, and that Mavis would be wise to implement some. Sebastian stepped in and told Mavis to be diplomatic and invite Pern to install the defenses, and Mavis did so.
Pern agreed.

Mavis and Pern met when Dune (Pern's younger brother) arrived at the Moon Palace when he bolted from Vanda and couldn't handle his grief. Pern interrupted a phone call between Mavis and her grandmother over the holo-call, using magic to get past the blocks.
