it’s easy to make fun of these guys with such little self awareness that they keep getting foiled by ai generated media specifically playing on their desire for felt security…but it would be equally easy for them to read a single article on the basics of developmental psychology.

An entire generation of dumbs are getting themselves worked up into a fascist frenzy over inaccurate nostalgia videos they know are complete false and it is terrifying hot profoundly strong these feelings are for them despite being very aware it's fake and bullshit.

The Searle Chair John Searle died a couple weeks ago. Since people are sharing stories, I'll share one of my own. As a philosopher of science studying developmental psychology, my dissertation committee initially consisted of Elisabeth Lloyd, Martin Jones, and Alison Gopnik. The topic led me 1/11

Thank you! How discipline specific/general will they be? I did spot your Physalia one, but wasn't sure whether it might be biology-heavy (I'm in developmental psychology)

To me, as a developmental psychologist & grandmother, I believe we activate hope by behaving as if the future we want is already generating - it’s not here yet, just as a new born can’t yet smile, talk, walk, or laugh, but with love, play, safety & scaffolding, she will be able. ❤️

In October 2007, Epstein received an email from Howard Gardner, a leading developmental psychologist at Harvard who helped start an initiative on living ethically called the Good Project, which "strives to equip individuals to reflect upon the ethical dilemmas that arise in everyday life." Gardner said he'd be getting back to him on two requests: "a reading list and advice about offsprings." Epstein was less than a year away from reporting to jail. "Meanwhile," Gardner added, "take a deep breath, take one day at a time, and you'll get through the coming period fine."

unless you're talking about chemistry, but yes in most contexts it's ablest and rooted in more primitive times when it comes to the study of developmental psychology and society's attitudes on it.

One of the academics who helped Epstein mentioned is the developmental psychologist Howard Gardner who is tenured at Harvard. He gave the world of education the idea of "Multiple Intelligences" in 1983. There is NO good evidence to support the theory. It's still prevalent... And does harm IMO.

🚨 EXPLOSIVE NEW report based on the 18K emails @business obtained from Jeffrey Epstein's personal Yahoo account: new details about the academics, attorneys and media specialists who helped him—in different ways and to varying degrees 🧵 www.bloomberg.com/features/202...

In October 2007. when the New York Post reported that Epstein was preparing a guilty plea, one of his many friends at Harvard University got in touch.
I read the newspapers early this morning,' the neurologist Mark Tramo wrote to one of Epstein's assistants. "Please remind him that bovs from The Bronx (even if they end up at Harvard) have long memories, know all about cops, and stay true to their friends through thick and thin (no less peccadilloes). Tramo, who is currently listed as an adjunct professor at University of California at Los Angeles, didn't respond to multiple messages seeking comment

I have, for example, never seen someone who got a degree in developmental psychology from the University of Tumblr describe people whose hobby is a form of exercise/physical exertion (hiking, biking, swimming, whatever) as autistic just for that reason

Price describes how she broke free of what had defined her childhood & went on to create a purpose-driven life and family on her own terms—eventually returning to the same community to help ensure that children are given the attention, protection, and services she never received. 📚💡 #devpsy

Just came across Paul Bloom's criticism of some developmental psychology work and I wanted to share my thoughts. Tldr: We do need more data to find out, in the future, whether we were trying to fit cylinders (data points) in square holes (bad theories) all along - thomaschazelle.fr/en/data….
