Today in class I tried to use Angelina Jolie to talk about media effects & I honest to goodness could not tell if they knew who I was talking about (I had a picture of her but…it was awkward.)
My more contemporary example was Tom Hanks in 2020 &…not much better!

Thank you so much for writing this awesome letter, Alex. Its taken me a minute to reply, because honestly, this shit hurts personally. I had a tier 2 CRC and was told by a (white male) colleague - to my face, to his credit (it wasnt behind my back) - that I only got it "because you're a woman".

Check my latest working paper!
I study the effects of the avocado production in Mexico on non-lethal crimes.
I find that the increasing production has increased the number of extortion cases, while other crimes (threats and kidnappings) are less robust.
