Finally got back out to the arcade to play some rhythm games. Not too shabby for having not played in months

In todays episode of “Arcade Tech vs. Games” The continued battle with the Hungry Hippos has once again drained my soul with the unending problems it brings from both wear and tear and how people treat it. I seriously wanna put this game in the nearest volcano. So no stream.

Soul Calibur is a famous case of a Namco home port looking better than the arcade game, but it's something they did a fair amount and Idolmaster is a similar case. The original was built for its System 246 platform, which is very much PS2-derived, down to the DS2 controller ports it offers.

Video games being stereotyped as “for boys” is especially infuriating considering that women were instrumental in developing many of them. Centipede (one of the earliest arcade games) — programmed by a woman. Pikachu — designed by a woman. And that’s just off the top of my head.

One of the reasons I love the Yakuza games! I like going to the arcade and playing OutRun and Virtua Fighter in between the story. It's also been nice to see what games are included in each Yakuza as I make my way through the series.

For example I'd say at least half the value-add of the arcade learning environment (ALE) paper was providing a framework that let people run standard RL algorithms on Atari games w/o directly interfacing with messier parts of the emulator. I wasn't born until 1988, so I missed the vast majority of the arcade hype, BUT, the moment I played Ms. Pac-Man for the SNES in 1995, I became an instant fan of retro arcade games, and I still absolutely love playing them to this day.

Heya folks, so, I'm currently going through the GOG Dreamlist and voting on arcade games, and its made me debate who my favorite arcade game publishers/developers of the 70s, 80s, and 90s were. Ultimately, I've decided my top 5 are Namco, Midway, SEGA, Activision, and Capcom in that order.
