Note that I'm only including PDSes that are reachable and count only accounts that have posted at least once - @mary.my.id has a more complete list on GH if you really want all known PDSes

My recollection is that there's more like 500,000 accounts per mushroom PDS. So for the 80 or so that the relay is reporting, that would roughly match the userbase. For the non-mushroom PDSs, @mackuba.eu has their own list you can compare to:

I like when Mastodon users explain how Bluesky works to @hailey.at who works at Bluesky 👌

Have I understood correctly that Bluesky has open-sourced all other stack components besides the AppView? Are there any #atproto or #bluesky gurus who know?

given that @bad-example.com can run a fully independent relay for $20/mo, it does make you wonder why @freeourfeeds.com is asking for $4 million 🧐

that is pretty damn impressive for the cost of running a relay

Are there any At Proto AppViews implemented in Swift?

request for criticisms: - it's too expensive to run an appview - PLC is still operated by a single org - the docs aren't clear enough, and it takes a while to understand the architecture I can't handle the incorrect critiques anymore so this is my strategy

@aviva.gay introduced the ability for users to appoint their own "Trusted Verifiers" to their bluesky alt client, deer.social 1. Amazing turnaround, less than a week after we launched verifications! 2. This is a great way to explore new approaches to hard problems 3. Atproto is all about interop

@tangled.sh is looking extremely cool, not just another "what if [app] but on atproto" project but truly integrating with the ideas behind the protocol
