Kuroda’s Critique of the Novel’s Reductionistic Perspective Kuroda’s art theory criticizes the novel for adopting a reductionistic perspective derived from scientific thought, which he sees as a misguided application that impoverishes the potential of fictionality.

Grok: Makoto Kuroda’s art theory, particularly his concept of *antifantasy* and the study of *fictionality*, offers a critique of the novel’s tendency to reflect a reductionistic perspective rooted in scientific thought.

Query 5: How Kuroda’s art theory criticizes the norm of novel representing the misguided application of the reductionistic perspective of scientific thought. Could you analyze his methodology of fictionality study, taking up his lecture note “Modern and Novel”?

I have had art theory and history classes that were like this. With the teacher espousing all kind of "interesting" ideas of what dead artists were "really" trying to say with their works.

One of my absolutely favorite things about learning art theory is how much better I'm able to read a piece of visual storytelling. It just makes it so much more fun to re-watch my favorites ✨
