Also I just wanted to say that I've been using niknbrutus's cosplay tutorial for the head and andiematronic's glitchtrap tutorial for the rest of the suit, so if the style looks a bit .. contrasting, then this could explain a bit

here is a #cosplaytutorial on how to stop things from falling off your costumes!!!!!!! don't be like me years ago, crying in the club (at the con) with stuff falling apart!!
text reads cosplay has a ton of โ€œstuffโ€? hereโ€™s how to stop it from falling off over a picture of a cosplayer dressed as brother nier
a photo showing snap tape sewn to a dress next to a photo of a meteion cosplayer showing the cloth attached to the dress. the text reads "We know about adding snaps to keep things secure, but use a cord trim foot for a machine-sewable way to keep lots of fabrics or wide pieces in place. You can also easily pin it in place for things like decorations on fake thigh highs."
don't glue 3d prints is the title above a photo of a cosplayer dressed as vash and a collar accessory with snaps sewn into felt and the felt glued onto the piece. the text reads "Instead, sew snap tape (or snaps!) to felt. Sand the back of your 3D print, then glue the felt on. Now you have a removeable accessory that wonโ€™t fall off all day!"
the header reads 'magnet pouch'. the text reads 'Magnets sometimes donโ€™t work well with glue, especially on fabric. Instead, enclose them in a mesh or tulle like a โ€œpocketโ€, sew shut, then sew into your project as is or into felt, then glued.'. there's a magnet with a mesh fabric sewn around it, and an arrow pointing to a cosplayer dressed as a viera from final fantasy xiv, at their headpiece on their wig, which is kept on with magnets.

[ Chibiusa wig build ] As I need to build everything lighter & make everything removable, I tried something completely different. Using garden wire, cotton wool, drawer handle, thread, paint, hotglue, hairspray, hairglue, foam and wefts from a cheap wig. #cosplay #cosplaymaker #cosplaytutorial

I made this ages ago but I made a quick visual guide to making inner and outer mitered corners when sewing bias tape. It's for free on my ko-fi, so please feel free to check it out! ko-fi.com/album/Mitere... #sewingtutorial #cosplaytutorial

new #cosplaytutorial and it's a panel -- selecting materials and techniques for storytelling in your cosplays! this was a collab with @solaheikacos.bsky.social for yeticon and we hope ya'll enjoy the V1 of the panel, as it's one of our fave topics. find the free slides here: ko-fi.com/s/dcf98655b4
Purple and orange themed post with a photo of people cosplaying a viera and Tataru from Final Fantasy XIV. The header says "adding storytelling to your cosplays"
A photo of two cosplayers cosplaying Shuro and Tade from Dungeon Meshi. The caption notes the Tade used a kamon for their custom shirt fabric and that the Shuro used real kote as inspiration for their gauntlets. The subheader is (1) Historical and says: The key is inspiration, not accuracy โ€“ examine garments from the direct or inspired period of time. Traditionally used textiles or techniques is a great place to start. Make sure to check out museumsโ€™ online galleries!
A photo of two people cosplaying Riju and Link from Tears of the Kingdom. It's noted that the Riju used warm colors, rich tones, and silks because she's a fantasy queen, and the Link used textured scale fabric and ice dye for a dragon-inspired arm. The header reads (2) Thematic: Subtle nods to the media โ€“ from buttons with a relevant symbol to fabric textures or colors that match the art style or world the media is set in โ€“ add depth to flat designs..
A photo of two cosplayers dressed Medicine Seller and Kayo from the anime Mononoke. There are two captions noting how the Kayo repurposed an existing kimono and added hand painted elements, while the Medicine Seller explored dye techniques with batik, shibori, and thickened paints. The header reads (3) Vibes: Sometimes things โ€œfeelโ€ right for a costume visually with your other techniques, or you want to learn something new that fits the look โ€“ either way, itโ€™s for you!

this IS why i co-run the cosplay tutorial challenge btw -- www.cosplaytutorialchalleโ€ฆ -- and i make tutorials too www.lutaviacosplay.com/tuโ€ฆ. but every day i think of making a cos tutorial newsletter monthly where i just ignore the slop and share useful education stuff from folks.
