#Septopolis 11: Lovilay As of the 800s, the language was Dolybian. In the modern day... It's referred to as Old Common. Yep. "What if the Fantasy French were the global empire and not the Fantasy English?" started out as a joke when we made Bert and his origin and then I just stick with it. 🧵1/3

#Septopolis 11 Nothing clever, it's on the tin. Languages: just one? Several? Did it (or plural) evolve from another language in your world as something mutually intelligible or is it just a regional dialect? #WritingCommunity #Writesky

A daily prompt card for #Septopolis 2025, hosted by @khonri.bsky.social. Sept 11: What languages are spoken here? Any “official” language(s)? Does it have a regional vocabulary or dialect?

#Septopolis 10: #tfowWIP Lovilay in 895 (about a year before the war ends) is essentially an ethnostate at this point. It's white people (on average more medium skin toned, dark hair). For a total population count, somewhere in the 14-20mil range compared to the total empire's 100+ mil. 🧵1/6

#Septopolis 10 Let's get into the people now, and take this as far as you want. Demographics: looking at the ages, genders, orientations, races/species/ethnicities, socioeconomics, education levels, etc... There's a lot that can be packed into this response if desired! #WritingCommunity #Writesky

A daily prompt card for #Septopolis 2025, hosted by @khonri.bsky.social. Sept 10: What are the demographics like? Is this typical for the overall environment they’re within, or are they an outlier?

#Septopolis 9: #tfowWIP Staring into my phone for an hour after work, I think for this future tomb (for only a little!), I'm going with the name... Lovilay [or Sainte-Lovilay, my husband really likes saying that out loud]. Now for the WHY, if anyone's interested in the subsequent thread. 🧵1/6

#Septopolis 9 It's naming time. For those who haven't firmed up a name yet: consider the landscape and its features, important people, or the place's purpose. 🧵1/2 Now, for both parties: Is there reason or meaning behind why you (or its founders) picked this name? #WritingCommunity #Writesky

A daily prompt card for #Septopolis 2025, hosted by @khonri.bsky.social. Sept 9: Name your city! Previously named or not, why was this name picked?

#Septopolis 7: #tfowWIP watah. it's just watah. jk I'll go with, established as a port by Early Dolybians, as the southernmost point on the continent, giving near straight routes its colonies in Oratoa and future Fannarey. It was readily built up thanks to all the limestone reserves. 🧵1/2

#Septopolis 7 We've got resources and fancy natural spaces covered. Now, let's move to why it's even here. In your world's history, what was the reason this place was established? Was it as something like a trade hub or military outpost? Potential not yet discovered? #WritingCommunity #Writesky

A daily prompt card for #Septopolis 2025, hosted by @khonri.bsky.social. Sept 7: Why is this settlement? Did it—or will it—serve a particular purpose in its early history?

#Septopolis 6: #tfowWIP Short & sweet cause D&D was lengthy (will add more eventually). 🤍#1 Painter's Bluffs & The Inkwell: on the southern side of the city near its harbors, a stretch of marble cliffs (think White Cliffs of Dover) encircling a deep bay that appears inky black due to depths. 🧵1/2

#Septopolis 6 The world is beautiful, and that probably goes for yours too. There's surely places even in the most grimdark of settings that could be considered wonders. Tell us about the natural wonders that exist nearby. ✨ #WritingCommunity #Writesky

#Septopolis 5: #tfowWIP This is a research trip. Being in karst, I'm running with: #1 resource: high access to fresh water (aquifers and mysterious streams). #2 resource: easy access to a subtropic ocean. #3 resource: not great arable land, BUT pasturing lands, so plenty of cattle and goats. 🧵1/3

#Septopolis 5 Yesterday jumped this ahead for some (oops 😅), so consider this from the view of the place's early history: Permanent settlements usually get built around a natural resource. What's plentiful here to make it happen? Fertile land, fresh water, minerals? #WritingCommunity #Writesky

#Septopolis 4: #tfowWIP This capital is going to be more towards the tropics with [not a meteorologist] dry-to-mild weather. Additionally, the country it's located in the modern day has a name that means "stone forest." There's a high amount karstland here. Inspired a little by China's Shilin. 😅

#Septopolis 3: #tfowWIP The (unnamed) Dolybian Empire's capital is most likely going to pull from southern French port cities in the early 1900s. A little bit of the "mythological" Greek. Maybe some Sharlaylan from FFXIV (that's repeating myself though). Though, made warmer and rockier.

#Septopolis 2: #tfowWIP The unnamed one is the capital of the Old Dolybian empire and the aggressor that kicks off the war (details of it next in thread). Mr. Khonri said the best way to end a war of its nature was to sack its capital. That will probably not be easy due to the fanatics. 🧵2/2

#Septopolis 2 You've gotta be building this place to do something, so what's it for? Is it meant to be your MC's hometown, evil lair, or some mandatory beach episode silliness for your or your players' characters? Or, perhaps, is it simply an exercise for yourself? #WritingCommunity #Writesky

I bundle splurged oops. I think I'm gonna continue my TFoW notes in Iron Ore, I really vibe with it. That Washed Lavender is going straight into my kakuno once it's time to change stg.
A lineup of fountain pen inks from The Birmingham Pen Company, featuring (left to right): flagstone, a medium neutral grey; megalodon, a light, warm grey; cistern, a somewhat muted but deep blue; washed lavender, a light purple; turkey feather, a deep orange; iron ore, a muted, light grey color almost like washed out rust; cold snap, light grey blue.

oh i guess firmly removing mental blocks works. #WritingCommunity #tfowWIP
Clément steadied his aim with Ferdinand’s power. The strange sight the kuraima provided through melding its inky flesh over his face and arms helped him track his target smoothly and made the microinches of necessary adjustments as they approached. He’d address his soldiers’ horrified yapping later—they already didn’t trust him, so act. He’d give them something more important to talk about.

Do what you set out to do. He couldn’t tell if those were his own thoughts or a little bird whispering along the side of his head. Take it.

Take the shot they’d made together time and time again in dreams spurred on for years by nights of burnt corpses. Before, tracking those red plumes against a red sky was a challenge. But this time… it was strange to see through the haze of shadows his target be something so bright. It couldn’t be this easy.

Focus. Somewhere nonlethal—but still painful. Something just enough knock them out the skies and away from watchful eyes. Forearms and hindquarters were a risk; if his theory was right, a bad shot could make the Baron bleed out and cause them both to die. The wing should be more than enough. Frazzle it.

Clément exhaled, pausing the cycle as his mind wandered for a moment. For how much longer do lemon trees dream of red skies?

And squeezed the trigger.

I have watched this dude humor meme of Sabaton's The Last Stand like 20 times and aside from making me further question gender constructs I fear any #tfowWIP playlist I make is going to be like 60% to 70% Sabaton. I'm stapling Peace by Demon Hunter to it too at minimum.

#tfowWIP update: stopped being allergic to it, finished military hierarchies with a few lingering threads (to accommodate these armies losses and growth over time). When showing Mr. Khonri this and ye olde map & battle lines he gave an excellent suggestion for midpoint and ending strategic goals. 🥰

A picrew of a light skinned, black haired, and red eyed person with some facial scarring, a bandage on their neck, blwck fingerless gloves and an off white, somewhat beige collared shirt.

#JulyWorldbuilders 5: squads, formations, tactics, #tfowWIP Still ironing out details up higher, but at a base level, a squad is made of 10 combatants: 3 teams and their NCO. At the point the narrative is entering, it's still trench time, so... Nothing exciting is happening. 🧵1/3 #WritingCommunity

Writers, describe your WIP in the worst way possible. 1. twink having a massive tantie makes it his descendants' problem. 2. soldier in the trenches discovers the concept of LGBTQIA+. #tfowWIP

#JulyWorldbuilders 4: training of troops, #tfowWIP it's ww1 boot camp. The biggest difference is also screening individuals aptitudes for determining which species of assigned beluan weaponry they'll get that will take them both to the Veil if either is mortally wounded. 🧵1/2 #WritingCommunity

#JulyWorldbuilders 1: Current Wars in WIP. While the main story likely doesn't have anything significant enough to name, 130ish years before, #tfowWIP is actively going through a prolonged WW1-like war: the Dolybian Collapse. Linked a yap on it, but maybe I can add more. 🧵1/3 #WritingCommunity

The Dolybian Collapse is actually what #tfowWIP is about at a high level. It's a 17 year long Great War equivalent about equal parts aggressive territorial "reclamation" and religious fervor trying to grab a set of keys to the Darkveil (underworld) for a Light cult's patron. 🧵1/8

Never would I have thought I'd need to remember how to work exponential growth to develop a book but here I am. Algebra, kids. You'll randomly find ways to use it when figuring out the approximate scale of both a population and its starting army based on total combatants over 17 years. #tfowWIP

It feels gross to work on TFoW today, but I have to remember that it's meant to be tragically anti-war. Today's goal(s) will at least get me to the point I want to be at, which is to start defining my Whos and maybe their initial Whys.

Brain can't think for main story, so how about the newbies for The Face of War? Also high school AU, but Fumoffu mixed with Cromartie High (for opposing schools hijinks). Lemon is POV character and a locker-shoved nerd, Red is a rival school's mythical, silent sports all-star. #ComJunity
