Swinging between 'I'm basically as fine as I get' and absolutely draining and scary ideation, about twenty times a day recently. One minute I'm planning my business for the next few weeks and working towards writing goals, the next I just want out. Curious to see which state wins out in the end.

I thought I was incredibly behind on my writing goals this year ("finish at least one thing per month") but I finished drafting Run With the Hunted 8 and went to update my lil list and I just need to finish one (1) more thing this month and I'm completely on track.

When I was in journalism school so many years ago it felt like writing for New York Times was the goal - like you'd made it if that happened. But now, I wouldn't write for that paper for any amount of money - not with their attacks on trans people, and anti-democratic rhetoric. Just a weird thought.

I've slowed down writing but I'm still doing at least 3/4 of a chapter per day. My manic energy burst is completely gone and I gotta ride the troph end of this cycle for a minute but after I level out I'll still be way ahead of my original 6 month goal for #Emergence!

#Writing goal complete! Unfortunate coincidence: I'm following up a series of chapters of the main characters in the sewers with a series of chapters that culminates in them underground again (but not in a sewer).
Oh well. At least Violet won't have to wash the smell out of her hair this time.

Then @ryanecunningham joined The Finishing School for Writers. She started showing up to our daily writing sessions, getting in community, and making plans in our goal-setting meetings.
