I'm equally fascinated by this! The Srella aimed for immortality, but after so long, their minds became "lifeless" and faded away. In my world, some people believe that the Srella are still present in the old machines. There are fragmented records that might be broken thoughts or memories.

Even their time system and an adaptation of their language is used as a common ground among different species.
#Srella are akin to alien gods, so their failure has meaning. But(!) this doesn't keep people from trying again. If one of the cast would want to achieve immortality, it's #Sorrax.

This lore is already a few years old, but I still like it.
The #Srella even had a world, next to their vessels. It was a planet which they referred to as Srellor, but it was never found.
