A great measure of the conservative movement's total intellectual bankruptcy is that oligarchs shovel truckloads of money into institutes like this one and even still, the ratio of literal Maoists to conservatives in academia is something like 100:1.

Exclusive: Harvard leaders have discussed creating a center for conservative scholarship as the school fights the Trump administration’s accusations that it is too liberal.

democrats have somehow totally misread this sea change in public opinion despite all the signs, including those at all the record breaking protests in every US city

New @goodauth.bsky.social piece shows that ICE's popularity is plunging: ICE's net favorability rating went from +15 in early February to -13 in late June. And support for abolishing the agency altogether has surged since the election. goodauthority.org/news/america...

The Austrian far-right FPÖ is employing a right-wing extremist affiliated with the Identitarian movement as a parliamentary staffer. Just another example of the blurring boundaries between radical and extreme right.

Skateboards and Livestreams: DHS Tells Police That Common Protest Activities Are ‘Violent Tactics’

DHS is urging law enforcement to treat even skateboarding and livestreaming as signs of violent intent during a protest, turning everyday behavior into a pretext for police action.

These scenes from California yesterday are reminiscent of the reception that 1950s Civil Rights protesters received in the South.

"My photographer got hit twice by less than lethal rounds and he's got blood on one of his arms and we just took off running with the entire crowd. It was absolutely chaotic."

Kinda curious to know how much time people do in prison for those protests that tear up Paris every year. Like do you get locked up for a decade in France for assaulting a policeman's baton with your face?

As someone who has moved a lot in the last 15 years, building community was not on the top of my mind. But the more I think about the climate crisis in a context of polarization, the more I believe creating/strengthening community is key. More knowledge mobilization on that topic is needed.

It’s never too late to protect the people and places you love. In times like these, where those in power are failing to protect us from the #ClimateCrisis, we need to strengthen our local communities. 🧵

A federal judge blocked Trump admin from enforcing contentious EO ending birthright citizenship after certifying a challenge by the @aclu.org as a class action (the only way to impose such a far-reaching limit after a Supreme Court ruling last month) www.nytimes.com/live/2025….

Hey Rhode Island / Boston / Providence reporters, here's a guy worth looking into. Director of our FEMA region posted xrays of violently shattered hands to 'celebrate' the protest day last month How do we think it'll go if PVD or BOS gets hit by a hurricane this fall?

Just a smattering of recent posts from the public Facebook page of Fred Doucette, FEMA Regional Administrator for Region 1 (overseeing Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont)

F*CK the 'antisemitism commissioner'. She sees her job as enforcing Zionism and eliminating criticism of and protest against Israeli genocide. Hatred of Jews is horrible and can't be tolerated but this is not about that. Not at all.

From 2020: “From May 27 to July 7, I cataloged 72 incidents of cars driving into protesters across 52 cities, including both civilian & law enforcement vehicles.” Why increasing use? Ari Weil suggests norms shaped partly by far-right memes & sites like Daily Caller. www.nbcnews.com/think/opi….
Opinion | I'm tracking protesters rammed by cars. The data should scare you.

The tragic death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville made vehicle rammings a national headline, but the tactic has not gone away — and, indeed, appears to be getting worse.

Oops, here I meant to show the results using 2017-2018 data (without large-scale repression). The effects of proximity to actively policed protests are not significant in this case.

1/11 How does justification of violence against the police change when you live near protests that are actively policed? In this article, just published in @sfjournal.bsky.social, we address this question using the 2019 Chilean social uprising as a case study. doi.org/10.1093/sf/s...

What you have to understand is that the mobilization of American economic power on behalf of right wing authoritarianism is a combination of Realism and Restraint, both hallmarks of the Trump administration.

defection of state security forces is the primary mechanism of non-violent protest movements

Protesters screamed, “Your grandchildren are going to learn not to be like you.” At one point, an ICE agent addressed a protester, saying “Just keep a distance. We get it alright, we get it.” A protestor responded, “If you get it, why are you doing this.”
