What audio codec will be used in open source PebbleOS? I looked through the code but couldn't find anything regarding the codec yet. Speex again or maybe Opus?

- things are going quite well
- we're currently focused on Bluetooth reliability, fixed some major bugs this week with the help of @codecoup_pl (thank you!). Things are fairly stable now (🤞)
- battery life is still unoptimized in PebbleOS, but we've verified that the hw can hit 30+ days

Re: longevity, I hang out in the Pebble Discord a bit and the community is hugely amped about new hardware + open source PebbleOS so even if Core doesn't work out I think it'll still be worthwhile having one for at least the life of the hardware.

I read through all 3,100 applications for the new Pebble watch beta test (tho we could only accept ~200 right now, many more slots opening up soon to test the iOS/Android app + older Pebbles)

12 days agoI'd suggest the RePebbel. But I'm totally biased in this conversation. I had a Pebble watch and loved it. I've ordered a new one too. I've had other smart watches but they have never lasted all that long before dying.

Because a Pebble watch is the only device I'm carrying constantly with me all the Time and I haven't lost it once.

I mean i have a little bucket list but:
1. port Shockolate to Wii U (who is this wut guy and why does cmake want to hurt me)
2. develop for pebbleOS (dont have peakwatch, no sane linux repo carries python2 anymore)
I just don't know how to progress without turning into glue

Pebble was acquired by Fitbit (I knew that), who were acquired by Google (think I heard that), who open sourced PebbleOS.
Eric is creating new hardware for the now free OS.

For those worried about AI quality etc. Nothing gets merged without human reviews, proper commit structure, etc. So if what AI agent proposed works but it’s a crappy implementation it won’t get merged until it meets certain code quality standards.

One of the things current smart watches are terrible with is battery life, which is why I miss my old Pebble watches. But I still have them! And there's a new Pebble coming out soon! And they're bringing back a supported app, which is backwards compatible, so I've dug out the charging cables!
