Welcome to the UK & Ireland Birding feed. For an introduction to Bsky and feeds see here - bou.org.uk/blog-dudley-... Otherwise, see the feed notes attached.
Feed notes for UK Birding:
Post are picked up using a single relevant tag (no need to use several) in the post or alt text.

There are excellent feeds for all bird related content (Birds), academic ornithology (BOU/Ibis Ornithology), Bioacoustics, Birding in Scotland, Wales and several local regions.

Research ornithology is permitted where relevant to birds on the British list (otherwise, see the BOU/Ibis Ornithology feed)

Hashtag stacking is not permitted on the feed. Pure photography posts should be posted to the Birds feed

Seems posts with hashtag #LancsBirding aren’t appearing on the feed… Who do I report this to? Thanks in advance.

Sue, myself an others always happy to answer any questions. Just tag #BirdingGear and we’ll see them. E.g. you could ask for specific recommendations around a particular price point. And, don’t forget your tripod! A tripod can make or break a scope so don’t skimp on it as ‘just an accessory’.

The current Shetland Siberian Thrush looks good for an adult male from the photos I’ve seen (rather than first-winter, as publicised). Very gripped from thousands of miles away, which prompted a delve into the rabbit hole. A short thread. 🧵 #birdingScotland

HI Max - don't know much about ageing them, so interested to hear any views. Some of the better photos here (rather grainy as light poor due to incoming storm, will surely be better ones from some of the other people there with better gear) ebird.org/checklist/S2...

KOS species of the month – Ruff – At this time of year Ruff can appear anywhere along the coast such as Oare or Worth. All birds will look similar with none of the males in their plumed breeding finery, but males are much larger than females. #kentosbirding #kentbirding

Luckily, the Greater Short-toed Lark, found by Nathan Pickering at Snettisham late yesterday evening, was relocated at dawn before vanishing for several hours. A teasing glimpse late-morning stimulated further relocation efforts, with rich rewards for those who braved the rain. #NorfolkBirding

A Snipe at Slimbridge - very good at hiding behind a rock! Glad we spied it as it's a lifer! (Later in the day saw 10 more on South lake). #UKbirding - Slimbridge (Robbie Garnet hide), 3 October 2025.
