During our hour together, will go over how DSA and the Pittsburgh chapter operate, what our current projects are, gauge your interests, and answer any questions you have. There is an informal meet-up afterward at a nearby restaurant--come along (and carpool) if you can!

I don't have a good punchline, but it's still funny to me that I have to take the "Women Jumping on Trampolines guy" seriously as a political agent.

When conservatives say “freedom,” they mean their boot on your neck. Their liberty depends on your submission. Don’t fall for the “free speech” act they’ve already proven they don’t care about the Constitution.

like the problem here is our economic system and basically every liberal democratic system of benefits is predicated on an assumption that there will always be significantly more workers than pensioners, but this is increasingly not the case because that requires population growth and/or immigration

"Municipal socialism is an increasingly popular idea, and not only in NYC, where Zohran Mamdani is favored to become mayor in Nov. New polling in the Mpls race for mayor shows democratic socialist challenger @omarfatehmn.com gaining on the incumbent, Jacob Frey, a centrist Democrat.”
Text reading “Minneapolis’s Omar Fateh on His Run for Mayor by Liza Featherstone” with a picture of Omar Fateh
Text reading: “The son of Somali immigrants, Fateh says he grew up hearing his father talk about the US Civil Rights Movement. But like many of his generation, Fateh wasn’t engaged in politics until he was inspired by Bernie Sanders’s 2016 bid for the presidency. He remembers hearing the socialist senator and former mayor of Burlington, Vermont, speak for the first time, and “not knowing what democratic socialism was, but saying, hey, I identify with everything that he’s talking about.”

i'm not going to commit to saying that socialism wouldn't have its own problem with spam, but it seems bad that within capitalism spam presents a huge value proposition because it's so cheap to produce that you only need to capture like 1 in every 10,000 people's attention to make spamming worth it

And in all seriousness, Riot Fest is extremely polarizing in the community and the real issues the fest causes are directly downstream of the destruction of state capacity in the neighborhood and city as a whole.

Socialist Librarianship - Class

There is absolutely nothing stopping Dems from providing armed security to the HHS/USDA staffers who conduct this survey, so they can do this survey. Except courage and political will.

You see, if you cancel the hunger survey, people will never know how much you drove up food insecurity by slashing SNAP.

we can’t undo the past and i think a lot of leftists started with theory and a lot of non academic start with empirics of their experience in the world- it may be easier to offer them a better experience than to explain why this one is even worse than they think

insane how bad this guy is at his job—and was at his job in a way that should have gotten him the political guillotine well in advance of his current efforts to ratfuck Zohran Mamdani, the legitimate winner of a Democratic Party primary

it's going to be really hard to build socialism out of organized labor—or to even organize a real mass-strike—in the US when significant pluralities of labor have completely given up on even liberal economic policy to act as an anti-woke, pro-racism, pro-fascism labor aristocracy

"The Teamsters announcement is also a blow to former Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton, a Democrat in the race who stood with striking Teamsters in August."
