I am all for people walking with weighted vests if that’s what gets you active but it’s really important that people know two things: 1: that little weighted vest everyone seems to have been issued isn’t heavy enough. 2: weighted vest walk is harder cardio, it’s not strength training.

I think you also have to add body dysmorphia in the age of the influencer. It was hard enough for us as teens to see Brad Pitt in Fight Club’s abs plastered everywhere. These kids scroll by 200 other guys on enough gear to kill a horse every morning before they get dressed.

I also think a lot of men my age and older don’t really understand what existing in the age of dating apps is really like and could do well to listen to young men when they express distress over the situation. You don’t need to validate them always, but listening is good.

I wrote about ChatGPT’s new Agent, which was not worth the time investment in my experiments. It couldn’t even complete many of the tasks its own interface suggested I try, and was confused about the current date. www.fastcompany.com/91376….

I'd love to read an article on the rise of "with that being said" as a common phrase among regular people. This was a very advanced phrase a decade ago and now it's very common in regular parlance—and especially short form video (though usually used somewhat incorrectly). Where did it come from?

What sounds better: A Reese's peanut butter cream smooshed between two Oreo cookies, or Oreo crumbs sprinkled inside of a Reese's peanut butter cup? The parent companies of both snacks are hoping you'll love both. f-st.co/H0JHhE1

As confirmed by Grok itself in a reply to that idiotic tweet, the boxy yellow subcompact in that picture is a Soviet-vintage Lada. Once again, I ask: WTF is wrong with these people? x.com/grok/status/...

You can't make this up

I wrote about what's at stake for the new Naked Gun, basically just so I could tell more people this one data point. www.fastcompany.com/91378….
"In 2005, Batman Begins kicked off Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. It was a massive hit, propelling Christian Bale to stardom and helping usher in the modern era of superhero movies. What now seems lost to history about the film’s success, however, is that it was slightly exceeded by the Vince Vaughn goof-fest Wedding Crashers, which earned $209 million to *Batman Begins’*s $206 million at the domestic box office—on roughly a quarter of the budget."

It's an awkward moment when the security expert whose optimistic quote leads off an otherwise gloomy report on ransomware has the Trump administration yank her appointment to a department chair at West Point on bullshit grounds two days before the report's publication.

Ransomware Victims Are Still Paying Up, Some More Than Once

Most payments are less than $1 million, but 8% of successfully attacked US companies have paid a ransom four or more times, according to security firm Semperis.

I don’t usually think this is a productive mode of argument but at some point you must ask someone ā€œhow much do you deadlift?ā€
