In Chinese #mythology, Sun Simiao, the Medicine King, was more than a healer. He was a legend stitched from science and spirit. A Tang dynasy(618–907) physician so skilled he earned the title Marvelous Responding Immortal, Sun once saved a tiger by removing a bone from its throat. 1/2

Did I tell you I’ve been working with some Wilts College media students on their folklore project? One group chose The Old Bell, Malmesbury and I noticed something in a window. Chances are, it’s a living human. Or is it? It’s a strange photo of a very haunted place... if you use your imagination! πŸ‘»

A vintage Halloween card with a smattering of folklore hidden among the costumes, but even more weirdness. The ghost is reminiscent of white sheeting, the origin of which comes from winding shrouds. The child resembles Newfoundland mummering The bloke at the back made no effort at all!
A selection of people in fancy dress, including a witch, a ghost, a pumpkin and some random bloke at the back who is in casual attire and didn’t get with the programme

Halloween Countdown - Day 3 πŸŽƒ The Freke Arms, Swanborough This 200 yr old pub is haunted by an old landlady. Unexplained footsteps, sudden cold spots, soft murmured voices and sounds from empty rooms are down to her. She appears at the bar with neat, blue ankle boots. Sometimes it’s just boots! πŸ₯Ύ

In early Chinese belief, polycoria, i.e., eyes with multiple pupils, was seen not as a defect, but a divine mark. Children born with such eyes were destined for greatness, their vision said to pierce beyond the ordinary. Legends say Cangjie, the creator of Chinese script, bore this sign, as did 1/2
Cangjie, the man in Chinese mythology who created Chinese characters. There is also a saying that he has four eyes.

According to a Flemish folktale, people went on pilgrimages and visited monks to make a witch give up her powers. Their attempts were fruitless. She remained a witch and cursed the houses of those who had wanted to change her. If you like witches, consider backing our project kck.st/492NqKt πŸŒ™πŸ–€

Goodnight. πŸ–ΌοΈ Edna Eicke, New Yorker October 27, 1945.
The image is the cover of The New Yorker magazine from October 27, 1945, illustrated by Edna Eicke.
The cover art depicts a Halloween scene where three children, dressed in white ghost costumes, are opening a decorative wrought-iron gate. They appear to be trick-or-treating, with bags in hand, and are about to walk down a path toward a large, spooky-looking house visible in the background. The house is surrounded by a dense, dark forest of tall, bare trees, and a light shines from its windows.
