The Boy and The Heron (2023) is the last movie directed by Miyazaki that I hadn't watched before. It's pretty cool. Not as amazing as Valley of the Wind or Princess Mononoké but better than anything from Hollywood since maybe the 90s. Now there's three more movies he wrote for me to watch. #filmsky

This CW special of “The Best Christmas Movies Ever” is actually pretty good and has the screenwriters of Die Hard and The Holdovers…which should’ve won ALL the Oscars. It was an instant classic and was Alexander Payne’s return to form. Anyway, I love specials with movie lovers talking about movies.

The Boys Next Door (1985) Dir. Penelope Spheeris — Before 90s nihilism hit big, this lean and decidedly unsentimental film laid the groundwork. A vicious road trip of alienation and rage as two teens go off the rails on a murder spree. Stark and frighteningly prophetic, and ahead of it's time.🎞️📽️

I’m giving Star Trek: Academy one season. If it hasn’t hooked me by then, I’ll never go back. I was burned by all five seasons of DISCO. I will not be caught in this trap again. And I may never watch Section 31 📽️ because the overwhelming consensus is that it’s just no good.
