I don't have an opinion about the Jay Kelly film, I have an emotion, and it is love. Not for the story, but love for the experience. It's cozily nostalgic; like being backstage in a theater while a wonderful play is being performed, or watching a musician you love tune their guitar #filmsky #movies

I always look forward to logging films in Letterboxd because I know somebody's going to come through with the most rage inducing review about how a movie is bad because it goes against their morals.

Casting will get some Oscar love next year. A new prize for achievement in casting was added to the Academy Awards, a step casting directors believe is long overdue.

Anyway I saw The Santa Clause for the first time and it was fine at best. I'll update Letterboxd at some point with all this Christmas stuff I'm watching.

I normally don’t complain about access stuff anymore because folks have their reasons for letting some see things & not others ✨but✨I came across a TikTok with a movie reviewer talking about a new Letterboxd title (now to rent) that’s not yet gotten distribution & the director sent them a screener.

nutcracker - the motion picture (1986) is a secret maurice sendak adaptation of the nutcracker in ballet form and while it's billed as a stage recording it's much more high effort than that (there's some cool play with chroma keying which looks pretty decent for 86)

Director Robert Siodmak sets a perfect, gritty mood with rain-slicked NYC streets at night. Conte and Mature display their best acting chops and the supporting cast is uniformly superb (see Shelley Winters!) It’s a taut thrill ride with the noirest ending. #FilmSky #NoirAlley
