NIGHT ON EARTH was my first Jarmusch so this was my first Waits too, but it wasn’t til I programmed DOWN BY LAW for my college film society ca. 1993 that “Jockey Full of Bourbon” took hold of me, and then an expat I knew while studying abroad insisted I listen to all of Rain Dogs and I was hooked.

Poster for Spider-Man 3. The poster shows a glass tower block, at night. Spider-Man in an all-black costumer is hanging upside down from a web, facing the windows. His reflection in the glass has the normal red and blue Spider-Man costume.

Watched #SomethingEvil 🎬 A very early Steven Spielberg take on the horror genre, in which a young mother is tormented by evil spirits - or is she? That's what makes this interesting despite a few storybits that are frankly all over the place. #filmsky

My friend Phil Stark looks back on Dude and his own “adventures in the screen trade.” ❤️ Personally I think writing feels a lot like a beautiful woman pointing a gun at you.

I Wrote ‘Dude, Where’s My Car’ 25 Years Ago. It Would Never Be Made Today.

In 2000, the author was a young screenwriter writing broad, crude humor to sell into a marketplace that valued it. Then offers dried up. Today, he's quit Hollywood to become a therapist.

This year there is a poor crop of movies chasing Oscars. I still have to see a few more Oscar movies. But overall as far as I am concerned this year it will be difficult to predict Best Picture Oscar winner.
