People outside Australia, to give you a snapshot of what I talk about when I talk about the housing crisis here, consider this: A two-bed terrace house in Sydney in 1971 was about 5.3x the average yearly wage. In 2025, it is now 17x the average yearly wage for the same exact house.

The Heat of the Moment

In place of paralysis or bland positivity, this is the moment for an honest reckoning with where we stand, what we are up against, and where, already, resistance is underway.

Dead mall to dead mall along the two highest ridership bus routes is the exact type of sicko behavior that this city created and we need to experience.

tracing the full length of the 55 and 56 from dead mall to dead mall is about the same distance as they walked

This is why we made tippingpoint-podcast.com and why my follow-up is on the capture of economics. Social Cost of Carbon is pseudoscience. As Dana Meadows told Nordhaus, it should never have passed peer review, let alone be used in policymaking. Orthodox economics has cost us the climate.

Pink Floyd famously suspended a giant pig above Battersea Power Station for their Animals album cover in 1977. I thought I'd attempt something similar outside the tube station using a small toy train. The surrounding buildings made angles tricky, but I'm pleased with the result #london

I can't fall asleep as I'm still digesting the marta board meeting Friday. marta has been blaming broken faregates for Atlanta's worst-in-the-nation rail ridership numbers (here's a TV interview feat. @atlurbanist.bsky.social) On the bus side though, one of 25 Q1 2024 riders also quit transit.
