The bank of the Seine in Paris used to be space for cars. Now for several years it’s been a special place for people in a city making more & more of them. All it took was leadership. the driver (24/F) of a 2023 Hyundai Elantra
going south on Bradmoor Dr (with a stop sign) at Bradley Blvd/191
hit & injured a person (44/M) on a bicycle
riding properly in the road at an unmarked crosswalk.
Police (MCP3127004J) did not find anyone at fault.👀

the driver (39/F) of a 2021 Toyota RAV4
turning left from Montgomery Village Ave to Center Ct
hit but didn't injure a person (26/M) on an e-bike
properly riding along the road with traffic.
Police (MCP3352002S) found the driver at fault: failed to yield ROW.

I’ve seen a bunch of cargo bike people on bluesky post this setup before, and finally did it myself today. The kiddo was too tired out by some big hills (plus super hungry), so it seemed like an ideal time.

Just watched a food delivery cyclist ride straight over the top of this chicane-like concrete island in the middle of a designated bike path, absolute miracle they didn’t come a cropper, landed back on a still upright bike like an acrobat… 🤔 #bicyclevictoria @cityofmelbourne.bsky.social

Suburbs have block parties, but the suburban equivalent is a rail trail.
Went for a run on the Pequonnock and saw: a pack of teenagers biking around, strolling couples holding hands, dog walkers, and kids trying to film a tik tok.
The key? There were no cars. We could build more places like this!
