V3 of the bionic hand! The caps for the fingers are printing. Each joint is a snap-in assembly. The allowances were loose on 2, so they'll get glue. But the rest made a very nice CLICK. Gloves are my own design. iDroid, painted and modeled by Ryu, is the keychain from thingiverse. #EnberQueue #MGSV

So I went to bed last night, wary of Schrodinger's String. I couldn't stay up to babysit the printer's test run on the unsupported finger parts. Would it complete, or shift on the plate and string? No string! Revising for fit & comfort. Have a peek at my schematics! #3DPrint #EnberQueue #MGSV

It failed again. Or rather, I stopped it 25% of the way in when it started snagging again. I have now overengineered the support system to make the brims knit together in a solid raft, and added hollow blocks to minimize the speedy tree spinnies. Take 3! #EnberQueue

A yup. About halfway through the central trees started knocking loose. Caught it in time to patch in a raft so they could reconnect, but then the bottom lost it and it jerked the whole assembly off. Sigh. Take two! But Stable Speed!

Woe. #EnberQueue #3DPrint The phantom cigar from MGSV is misbehaving even when I leave the door open. The one on the build plate lasted about 5 minutes after I left the room... then skidded out of place. Running the dryer box and babysitting it this time.
Two photos, set at diagonals, showing cylindrical 3D prints in grey PLA that have turned to spaghetti filament halfway through. They'd make good hairballs, but not cosplay props. The second, taller one has a giant gloob glob off the side. Like a deformed chicken wing. That isn't supposed to be there, at all.

Either closing the office door during a 3D print topples the tall skinny ones, or Ryu opening his half-jammed door does. In either case, third time a taller print has dislodged basically exactly where I left it unsupervised... mmm, grey spaghetti. Broader raft & open door this time. #EnberQueue

Done! This is for Ryu's school assignment. He had to design a character, mask, & write their story. He went with a tragedy. I printed the parts (credits 👇) & handled soldering, repairs & hinge peg build-out. Concept & paint by Ryu. It started off too cheerful so it's Grunge now! #3DPrint #EnberFam

The infill is So Sparkly on this TPU. I love it so. Next phase of Ryu's mask for his school project is the decorations. It'll be a white Drama type mask with red spider lilies. I don't have any red anything, so we're using the TPU. It's flexible and will conform without snapping. #3DPrint

Well this looks alarming. I don't THINK it counts as body horror, but the tree supports sure are melty. And the one for the left eye & forehead snapped out of place not long after the first pic, when I went to bed. The overhang from the eyes up is holding without supports, but it's STRINGY #3DPrint

I took the hotend apart to switch out the nozzle, since the 6 was still in there from the TPU. PLA likes a 4 better. The nozzle & sock were GLUED ONTO the hotend block by orange TPU. One of the prior prints must have leaked. Need to replace for Ryu's school project. Halp? ko-fi.com/enberlight/

The black stainless nozzle is mostly removed, but gunked with wite and orange filament that had glued ut to the silver hotend box. That box is covered in a burnt thick sludge of old orange TPU, like a swampbeast rusted it. Behind is an Amazon listing for a replacement, $19.99, all nice and shiny and far less haunted.

I let the dogs out and spotted a LOT of, shall we say, critter debris on the deck railing. I was like, oh no, what's been chowing down all night? I looked up, and... well, we have one less unwanted sapling in the rose bush! Say hello to Oedemasia concinna, the Red humped caterpillar; future moth.
