Western music is based on 12 equal-spaced tones, which come very close to "good-sounding" pitch ratios. What if you picked a different number, like 31? Music for a power outage on a spaceship, apparently.

The "handpan" or hang drum is is a variation on the steel pan drum, with additional expressive control due to the use of fingers rather than sticks. I find this impromptu(?) 2011 performance really beautiful.

Sort of a mosh pit of lots of different synths at once. Warm all-enveloping construction sounds, like you just curled up in the middle of the cement mixer and took a nap. (Maybe less white noise than that implies.)
