I tell my writers and illustrators this all the time, but the best thing you can do for yourself while on submission (or while querying) is to be working on your next project. It helps keep your mind occupied so you don't obsess over the silence during the interminably long wait for responses.

Today is the last day that I'm open to queries for June, but I'll reopen again in July. This month I was glad to see a lot of queries from LGBTQIA+ authors after I posted about it and requested a number of them. Next month I want to focus on finding more BIPOC authors and illustrators in the slush.
