I am working on several solutions to the 'the ads are excessive' problem but there's no easy way of fixing it. In the meantime, I recommend muting or blocking the accounts whose ads irk you the most. The #booksky Patreon has some exclusive feeds with the ad-free filters I'm working on too!

I've just tried muting half a dozen accounts because of the intensive promotion, and the difference it's made! The feed suddenly felt a lot more varied. Hoping that'll be enough, I do enjoy seeing those type of posts in moderate amounts and don't want to have to block it all

"It's not petty!" Pru cried, her voice gaining a surprising resonance, almost a squeal of indignation. "It's about human hope! And fear of failure! And deliciousness! And… and she hasn't finished her painting for the local art fair! She has so much more kindness to give! She just donated blood yesterday! And she composts!" Alia, surprised by Pru's sudden, passionate outburst and the sheer absurdity of the argument, found herself nodding. "I did just donate blood. And the art fair is next month!"

I eyed a second one, but then Damien continued. “It’s easiest to follow the rules with individually wrapped chocolates. The wrapper slows you down. It discourages impulsive behavior. But without the wrapper, you think less about the quantity. It’s easier to consume more,” Damien calmly explained, watching me as I resisted snagging another chocolate from the bowl. “You could make a similar analogy to buying pizza by the slice versus by the box. Or watching just one more episode of your favorite show since the next starts automatically. Pick your… temptation of choice.”

Resting my elbows on my knees, I cup my forehead with a hand. I hate what I've done. I thought I was done being impulsive, talking without thinking, but I still seem to have my moments, aargh. A minute later, Ryhan's on our doorstep. I hear him greet Mum and say that his mum sent her famous Samosa Bake, a dish she claims to have invented. It's like cannelloni but with samosas instead of stuffed pasta tubes. Mrs. Hassan's dish is famous for a reason-it's really yummy.

It’s delicious,” she answered, reaching for another scarlet mushroom and closing her eyes as she dropped it into her mouth. Zach shook his head and waggled his ears. “Some people would consider it rude to hog the sauce.” Chloey’s ears swiveled back in concern. She opened one eye and asked, “Do you think I’m being rude?” Zach realized she hadn’t seen his ears, so she didn’t know he’d been joking. He waggled his ears vigorously. “Not at all.”
