Funfact: die geinige inkepingen in o.a. de R zijn er om er voor te zorgen dat in drukwerk dat mooi volloopt en er een strak hoekje van maakt. Heb je er kaas van gegeten dan weet je dit en gebruik je dit font niet als je er iets digitaals mee gaat doen.

my best lead right now is: A van Krimpen typeface, but none of the well known ones fit
what's extra annoying: I am SURE I've seen this typeface at some point in my life.

I can't defend slow perf but it's likely for a real reason. Here's my guess:
The `ch` unit is the width of `0`, `ex` is the height of `x`, and both depend on the font-family and font-size. The browser needs to determine the dimensions of those characters before it can set values based on them.
