Going to try and post at least once weekly about my conworld. This #Worldbuilding Friday, I'm going to talk about Ximu, the Great Phoenix. This week started Hausos, the month named after Them. Gryphons grant permission to be ridden, not their trusted "other"; though young Gryphons can be bribed with snacks, Elder Gryphons are not, and riding an Elder is a sign of prestige.
Despite mostly feasting on foliage and tree limbs, Gryphons have the capacity to eat meat, and digest carrion from flesh to bone as a way to help the ecosystem break down organic matter.
Killing or injuring a Gryphon has punishments ranging from Ziel crystal payments to the affected Gryphon(s) to execution by the Gryphon pack affected. For #RetrOCtober, I've decided to redraw an ancient OC that died in canon and never came back. Drew this two days ago but I had to give him a proper redesign. (See next post.)
His character gimmick was that he has long hair: if it's cut, he dies. That wasn't how he died, though.

This character is/was Tokii, a pale-skinned, blue eyed Human man with very long, red hair.
In the old art drawn in MS Paint, from January of 2008, his back faces the viewer, and is depicted with one feathered wing-- the other wing visibly chopped off. He wears a white long-sleeved shirt and baggy navy pants.
The redraw has him standing with his long hair held in his hands. The white shirt (which is barely visible in the old art) was drawn to resemble a kosode, as the character is Japanese-coded. His name, Tokii, is written with the Kanji character [時]. It was spelled with an extra I on purpose.
