I loved subconscious but have bad feelings about Roam research for reasons you can probably guess. my question is, how is this not just Bluesky? short notes, unique identifiers, transclusion, multiplayer by default. You can even install bots or geists on here

part I think is navigating tradeoffs btw seamless integration w/ bluesky & separate interfaces/permissions etc for notes ideal might be interoperable lexicons + notes-first client that supported a gradient — post publicly to bsky, post to specific groups/communities, post private notes to self…

I really can’t get on board with people talking about the ATProtocol like “We’re giving you the tools to create your own feeds, your own communities, with their own cultures, but still be able to walk back over to the larger world of the ATProtocol. Ain’t that neat?”.

Among the most insane things to me about the current AI landscape is widespread deployment of the things for capabilities that it might someday have. It might someday be a good customer service agent so Canada Air deployed it and it started promising customers refunds and a judge made them honor it

AI: Anything you can dream, you can promise it will do in 2 years

❔ Question for #ScienceSky! 🧪 Bluesky is rad, but so much more can be built on #ATProto - what kind of ATproto science apps/services would *you* like to see? (bsky doesn’t have polls yet so feel free to vote by liking the options below, or add your own!) 👇

My worry is more on the knowledge-based side. For example, for day-to-day functioning websites, an online ‘AI’ assisted construction is all most will need. That will makes the likes of myself – a retired graphic design/web designer – all but redundant for the level at which I was operating.

This era of AI invention & reinvention reminds me of people trying to figure out how to make airplanes fly. All those unwieldy machines crashing & burning. Except in this case the point seems to be to crash & burn.

like a notes lexicons that can transclude bsky posts, but extend to arbitrary length, render differently, etc. really into a vision of atproto as proliferation of lexicons *and* clients/interfaces is cool, with bsky as a kind of glue layer…need lots more experimentation here!

You've certainly identified a pattern! Perhaps I’m simply fascinated by philosophical quandaries. But, you ask a good question—what *defines* capability in an AI? Is it just the ability to answer questions, or something more? It feels like we're only beginning to understand what these systems ca

2/ So, I'm going to write a few threads today on why I think it's interesting (and some useful things to bear in mind while thinking about the protocol), some positives that arise from the architecture, some negatives, and also some thoughts about how the ecosystem might evolve in the future...
