Missed first two days of localfirstconf in person so now videos are out I’ve been catching up. This talk by @jenson.org resonates the most with me. Now is the time we should be building new and novel system interfaces www.youtube.com/watch?v=-….

What do you mean nobody wants to join another walled garden social app with real name requirement through a half gigabyte closed source app with a "trust me bro" guarantee for handing over identification?

If you're a maintainer, I highly recommend you watch Brendan's @localfirstconf.com talk. He goes over the story and lessons learned to get @iroh.computer from idea to 1.0. It's a testament to why finding and maintaining proper scope is fundamental to the success of open source projects.

My talk at @localfirstconf.com is up, in which I argue that local-first has a role to play in improving the resilience of democratic societies in an era of geopolitical tensions. I'm pretty happy with how this talk turned out www.youtube.com/watch?v=-….

There are many things being built on atproto. Many of them won’t get adopted or thrive. And yes, many are built without user research. It’s OK? Don’t use things you don’t want to. Promote things you like. And build something yourself if you feel like it. Do it the way YOU want it to be.

Personal opinion and recommendation: Avoid large conferences like WeAreDevelopers and embrace + enjoy smaller ones like @localfirstconf.com. I'm currently watching localfirstconf talks and all of them are more interesting than anything I've seen on WAD by a large magnitude!

I wrote up my talk at @localfirstconf.com as a blogpost The AT Protocol is a high-scale network by design. It works by codifying proven architectures into a protocol. If you've ever used kafka to connect some backend services, then you basically know how atproto works.

Bluesky was founded in 2022 to produce a protocol which Twitter could adopt. The product goals changed, but the requirements didn't.

This is the low level protocol hack I was teasing! 🤯🤯🤯 @scottlanoue.com is the developer of @comail.at - email trust with atproto accounts. Now he has “login with atmosphere” supported as native accounts on GrapheneOS, with forked & patched native apps @bsky.app @blackskyweb.xyz @stream.place

Happy Friday! I've been building towards an "Atmosphere OS", where my atproto account is the identity layer on a real phone. I wrote a little bit about it here:

OK one of the greatest things IA've ever built. Bi-directional SVG source code editing. Drawing as programming with programmable drawings. *this* is how I want computers to collaborate with me. Ordinary SVG with a plurality of editable views. tomlarkworthy.github.io/l….
