I have a sparring partner bot I've put some work into for about this purpose.
I give it a B-. Mostly right now its a great organic and live fire to test my preparation and memorization.
But this is one of those uses where, in 2 years? Everyone will be doing it, and it'll perform a bit better.

Appalling and inexcusable that this is genuinely new information about something as basic as, "how many people work for each federal agency," but under Trump the Executive Branch has gone dark so nobody can tell what's really going on. Impeachable by itself.

I've used it in cases where the discovery set was so huge that without predictive coding it was just an impossibility.

It can't reason. It can predict. And it's biased towards what *you* want. Every major commercial LLM product is predisposed to be affirming, and they arent all that capable of doing things like "subjective balancing tests' and "asking follow up questions so it knows all the facts."

He really liked the "withholding rent" option (who wouldn't), and inquired further about that. GPT made it sound like a great option the more they talked about it! He stopped paying rent!
Now he has an eviction on his record and will struggle finding an apartment for 5-7 years. He's a sublet nomad.

Here's an example of where it gets you in trouble.
Friend of a friend was having some roommate and landlord issues. Very contentious, very shady.
Asked an earlier version of ye olde GPT for some options. I've seen the list it gave! Its a good list! For a racehorse law school exam!

Things LLMs have helped me with:
Batch coding discovery (huge)
Formatting spreadsheets
Mass list organization
Summarizing news articles on particularly hot days
Thesaurus service but for sentences
Mindless time management
Many uses!

As for AI in law- It has uses in practice. Many! But its a *tool*. People are gettinf in deep trouble all over the profession with it, and there's a common denominator- When you're using it as a stand-in *for you*. Your brain. Your analysis. Your writing!
