My Greyhound trip home has been, understandably, cancelled, and so has every bus I could take for the next 24 hrs. Loved being here but my "if I can't bike there I'm not going (until Columbus has trains)" rule for intercity travel is looking better and better.

Study shows targeted cycling policies, like dedicated lanes & better bike parking, were major contributors to the rise in ridership. But equally important were measures to discourage car use. The two worked hand-in-hand: making biking easier & driving less convenient momentummag.com/new-study….

“The transformation is astonishing. [Paris] has quietly—& quickly—become one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. What started as a series of emergency “coronapistes” or pop-up bike lanes, built during the pandemic has evolved into a permanent bike network spanning hundreds of kilometres.”

Tonight was the coldest bike ride I’ve done this season, at -8°F, and honestly, I felt calm and prepared for it. When I started feeling cold, I was only like 10 min away from home, so I was just like “in 10 minutes it won’t matter” and then I felt better. Now the next rides will be easier. 🙂

UNINTERRUPTED CYCLING NETWORK. In most cities, cycling involves a constant cycle of stop-and-go. You hit a red light, you wait for a turning truck, you yield to pedestrians. It kills the momentum. Here in Oulu, the experience is completely different. Here’s why👇 1/3

waterboard these people until they scream "because cyclists cause an INSIGNIFICANT amount of damage"

Love getting these messages a day after a big flame war about DUIs and speeding being nbd.

spam trolling about cyclists and the law

Such sad news for folks in the Philly area. 😞 Even all the safety gear and lights can't protect us from inattentive drivers. These options only help us appear more visible, but don't make us invincible. We shouldn't just slap bike icons on the shoulder of a 35mph + roadway & call it a bike lane.

In a bike lane with all the safety gear, still killed by a driver. A wife widowed and two young kids without a father just before the holidays. It doesn’t have to be this way. #bikesky 6abc.com/post/forrner...

I cycled the new Veloway today that was built as part of the Westgate Tunnel project. It separates the bike lane from the dangerous road below, which provides access to the port of Melbourne for thousands of trucks everyday. bigbuild.vic.gov.au/proje….

The most important part of setting up bike Vee brakes is, of course, dropping the little spherical washers on the floor. Shimano has spent years developing the shape of these so they immediately bounce out of sight in to the nearest abyss.🙃 Good excuse to sweep up XP
