My zinnias are attracting more & more monarch butterflies, I counted 6 on one patch alone! And a small little yellow butterfly I'd never seen before. Flew away before I could take a snap. It delights me to see the Monarchs which are in such decline. 🌱 #Pollinators

We were a little nuts growing wheat 🌱, but it worked. Now the beds are empty, prepped and ready for our next daft project. Project efelump 2026. All the cloves are ready to go in, just need to count them now. Need 480. 😂
Large elephant garlic cloves. Will 12kgs be enough?

🌱 Remember the luffa I decided to kill? Well, one single small branch remained uncut, so I left it. I can't believe how much it has grown already, and that is putting out luffa.
A collage of three photos
top photo - a large trellis covered in thriving vines
middle photo - the same trellis with dying vines
bottom photo- the trellis empty save one vine
the same trellis with the vine going in many directions

🌱 BloomScroll What's in a name? Cereus Repandas or Peruvian Apple Cactus is today, in question. Sidebar: Did U know that I have No Working Memory? Everything New2me must be committed 2 memory via Rote Learning In sum, may have used a misnomer using AI to ID in Zone9B😊 ShadowofSouthMtnPark AltText
a photograph of my front yard this morning showing Blue sky Barbados cherry tree at back a vibrant full of pink red blooms bougain via bush a Calliandra Californica or Baja fairy duster with its pretty feather like blooms highlighted in the morning sun and in the foreground is a creamy colored flower about the size of a human fist that has just opened within the past few hours, and we'll close again in the next few it is on a tall spiny columnar Cactus whose name is in dispute but it is a cereus
gorgeous creamy colored oversized petals of a serious desert flower The image displays the intricate details of a Cereus cactus flower, specifically highlighting its numerous stamens and a portion of its petals. While often referred to as the Peruvian Apple Cactus (Cereus repandus), the species commonly planted in Phoenix, AZ, and seen in the trade is more likely the Brazilian Apple Cactus (Cereus jamacaru).
Here's more about this striking flower and the plant it comes from:
Nocturnal Blooms: The large, fragrant flowers of the Cereus cactus are known for their nocturnal blooming habit, opening only at night.

Pollination: These flowers are typically pollinated by bats, though other organisms may also visit for nectar and pollen.

Appearance: The flower is characterized by its large, creamy-white petals and a prominent central cluster of numerous yellow stamens, as seen in the image.

Fruit Production: If successfully pollinated, the flowers develop into edible, pinkish-red fruits with white flesh and large seeds, often referred to as "Peruvian apples" or "Brazilian apples".
despite getting out at 7:30 a.m. it was too late to get a good shot of this gorgeous open cereus desert flower. I especially like what are called tepals and their gentle reddish green coloring which gives an extra pop to the beautiful creamy white petals of this open flower which includes golden stamen, which may get pollinated and turn into fruit
buds upon the cereus jamacaru cactus have thick stalks and a rounded end

Today's Rose report 🌱 A bit crispy around the edges
A Double delight rose bloom, beginning to fade and get crispy around the edges in the last gasp of summer heat. The creamy yellow petals are edged in lipstick pink, curled around the central yellow stamens.

🌱 The amount of expansion from the three tiny plantain leaf pussytoes plants doesn't really seem that dramatic until you get up close, but there are 11 distinct plants in these clusters.
A photo of a maybe 20-in wide line of plantain leaf pussytoes plants with their kind of hairy and silvery green leaves, planted against a simple ledge made of two bricks on a slope

I have a few caterpillars in my Dill. I chose to leave them be. I believe Black Swallowtail (Papilio polyxenes), a native pollinator in Wisconsin. Mom always said plant three gardens: one for you one for disease and one for the critters. #caterpillar #garden 🌱🐛
