A minimalist wax relief drawing on black paper depicting a vase holding five abstract, circular flowers. The vase and stems are outlined in white, with each flower head containing unique internal patterns—some with radiating lines, others with loops or enclosed circles. The rough, uneven texture of the wax gives the composition a tactile, hand-drawn quality, while the high contrast between white and black creates a stark, sculptural still-life effect.

#ImageAndVerse #Stunday Montana today with the first snow.. picture from my front porch Snow dusted pines Skies gray A lone Aspen denies the realm Autumns final breath consumed by winter #eastcoastkin #landscape #artyear #photography
The photograph captures a quiet Montana forest just after the season’s first snowfall. A dense stand of pine and fir trees stretches toward the horizon, their deep green needles lightly dusted with white. The snow clings delicately to the branches, softening the ruggedness of the evergreens. Above them, the sky is a heavy gray—featureless, cold, and full of the stillness that comes before more snow.

Near the center of the scene, a single aspen stands out among the pines. Its slender frame glows with golden-yellow leaves that have refused to fall, flickering like a last ember in a world turning silver and green.

Space is older than the air moving in & out of your lungs For years I've drifted the math of a divinity that goes on & on And I wonder where have you gone? And I wonder what have you done? #ImageAndVerse #StunDay #ArtOfSelfPortraiture #Kusama #MathewGood #AltText #ArtYear #smArtist #Photography
A self-portrait taken inside Yayoi Kusama's "Gleaming Lights of the Souls" at Denmark's Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. The lights within the mirrored infinity room shift colours and at this phase of their cycle were primarily blue and purple with some red. Echos of the photographer's body appear throughout the sea of lights. The most immediate reflection in the centre of the frame has the brightest light directly over the heart of the woman. She floats as if lost in space.

Accompanying text is an excerpt from Matthew Good's song "Flight Recorder from Viking 7".

Complete Lyrics:

Space is colder
than the air in the mountains
where I come from
The air in the mountains
where I come from

For years I drifted
Further and further
into the unknown
Further and further
into the unknown

And I wonder
where have you gone
And I wonder
what have you done?
What have you done?

Space is older
than the air moving in and out
of your lungs
The air moving in and out
of your lungs

For years I've drifted
the math of a divinity
that goes on and on
the math of a divinity
that goes on and on

And I wonder
where have you gone?
And I wonder
what have you done?
What have you done?

'Verdant Vortex' A defiant young sunflower greets the morning sun from amongst autumnal shade. Hope you've all had great weekends my #Bluesky friends! Sparty 🍂 #EastCoastKin #Photography #ColorADay #OrangeSun #StunDay #Nature #Art #ArtYear #PhotographersofBluesky #BlueSkyPhotography #BlueskyArt
The photograph presents a captivating, high-angle close-up of a sunflower bud from directly above, highlighting its intricate structure.

The central focus is the tightly coiled green bud, closed, revealing the promise of a future bloom. Its emergent leaves unfurl in a mesmerising spiral pattern with each leaf showcasing a vibrant, almost neon, chartreuse green hue that transitions into deeper olive tones towards the veins. The veins themselves are distinctly visible, forming a delicate network across the leaf surfaces, subtly enhanced by hints of yellow.
The texture of the leaves appears slightly fuzzy or velvety, particularly around the central, emerging layers of the bud, which are densely packed and tightly curled, hinting at the potential for robust growth.

The very heart of the bud is a darker, almost shadowy green, providing a striking contrast to the brighter surrounding foliage.
The background is intentionally blurred, employing a shallow depth of field to isolate the sunflower bud as the unequivocal subject. This bokeh effect renders the surrounding environment as soft, indistinct blurs of warm, earthy browns and muted oranges, suggesting dry soil and leaf litter beneath. These warm background tones create a harmonious, yet subtle, contrast with the cool, bright greens of the plant.

Lighting in the image is natural, soft daylight, which illuminates the upper surfaces of the leaves, accentuating their textures and the vibrant green-yellow colouration, while casting gentle shadows within the deeper folds of the bud, adding depth and dimension. The overall mood conveyed is one of natural beauty and the delicate intricacies of botanical growth on the cusp of unfolding.

The composition, dominated by the spiraling leaves, draws the viewer's eye inward towards the tightly held core, emphasising the anticipation of bloom. The image offers a detailed study of a plant form, celebrating the simple elegance of a sunflower bud before its grand reveal.
