Given the confidence oozing from Anas Sarwar in the wake of the surprise by-election win, you would think the last year has been a breeze for Scottish Labour. My analysis on the first 12 months of Starmer's government and what it means for Sarwar's Holyrood ambitions www.scotsman.com/news/pol….

This was a relatively small sum of money from households that could mostly afford it – Ā£200 a year vs up to Ā£10,000 a year from the welfare reforms as first proposed. And we wonder why politicians won’t dare ask the UK electorate to face up to any difficult decisions.

šŸŽ‚ It’s the anniversary of Labour’s election win. The Government had some early stumbles, but what do the public think is their biggest mistake? Asked to say in their own words, it’s one of the most stark word clouds we’ve seen. Winter Fuel Allowance drowns everything else out.

ā€œThe Fourth of July is the day the USA celebrates its hard-won independence from an autocratic king. ā€œThis year, it will mark that day for the 249th time with a bill that essentially creates one anew – and gives him his own private army, too. Happy ā€œindependenceā€ day, America.ā€

ā€œICE has 21 times the funding available to the AFT to enforce the laws on firearms and arms smuggling. It has 13 times the funding available to the DEA, at a time when Trump has claimed the fentanyl crisis is one of his top priorities. It has eight times the total budget available to the FBI.ā€

Have deleted my posts (inflation data isn't in the underlying spreadsheet, isn't linked and doesn't come from HMRC, so now I can't tell what he's done. But the methodology is also wrong...)

It's real terms - if you don't believe the data, take it up with HMRC, what are you using?
