Sketchy illustrations of the creeper aliens from the movie Mickey 17 by director Bong Joon Heaux. They are isopod-like with tentacle faces and sweet little eyes. One of the doodles shows a creeper smooching a centica. Another doodle shows a Mickey 17 creeper snuggling with a Minecraft creeper plushie. Another doodle shows a Minecraft creeper patting a Mickey 17 creeper on the head. They are very cute.

Collette, Yuen, Ackie, Ferran, Vartolomei…such an excellent cast. Like, Ruffalo did this thing where he held a mic with his pinky up, and it’s a tiny detail but makes you wanna punch him in the gut. The whole cast and crew made a zillion great choices like that. 🥰🥳 Bong Joon Ho, I love that guy!

Imagine if 'Marge - I think I hate Ted Koppel!' and 'No, I don't - I find him informative and witty. Good night!' had an hour and a half between them and were delivered by separate Homers to each other

"Both [leaders] are driven by instinct rather than intellect, their success in life the result of boundless selfishness and a lack of empathy ... Both are obsessed with appearing masculine, yet ultimately are rather childlike: ids unrestrained by superegos, seeking approval and self-satisfaction."

Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17” is both a critique of gangster capitalism and an argument in favor of proletarian revolution. truthout.org/articles/par...

In his Oscar speech, Bong famously quoted Scorsese's saying that "the most personal is the most creative". Ken Marshall and Ylfa and their weird predilections are clearly references to South Korea's Yoon Seok Yeol and his notoriously corrupt and powerful wife, whom Bong likely detests deeply.

Mickey 17, Bong Joon Ho's first movie since the Oscar-winning smash Parasite, is a darkly comic sci-fi fable that harks back to some of his earlier films (notably Snowpiercer & Okja): a savage political satire set in an icy dystopia, with Robert Pattinson in a double role. slate.com/culture/2025...

Critical Drinker and his subreddit as well as the MauLer subreddit hate Mickey 17. They don’t find it funny, they hate that the Trumpian character is a buffoon instead of a hardass like in the book, and they hate that the Black female romantic partner is competent.

Every time you see a review disparage Mickey 17 as an SNL skit, I want you to image how a regime sympathizer would discredit a work of art that tells you righteous anger and violence will remove a fascist from power.

I watched Mickey 17 a few days ago. I strongly suggest it and had to do a fan art.
an illustration of mickey 17 characters. 17 holds a science fiction brick emanating strange vibrations. a spectral double stands behind him in between him and one of the native residents of his new home.

and yet it just keeps getting more and more relevant. Studio was probably devastated when Trump got grazed on the ear.

very funny/refreshing that since the main character is pattinson even when he’s played as sort of dim/awkward, the moment he gets on a space ship the most beautiful woman on the ship is like “hey, we got a long trip ahead, let’s try out every possible sexual position”

One another thing- Robert Pattinson killed it in this. Mickey is my favorite performance of his and I was already a fan of his Bruce Wayne which is the completely opposite of this vulnerable, downtrodden human doormat w/ a completely different voice.

"Bong’s camera lingers on their close-ups just long enough to discern what really lies beneath his text. Which is to say, the cartoonishly obvious subtext, fit for a cartoonishly obvious political sphere." Great article! Marshall is a buffoon because buffoonery is all American politics is.

Some say the marketing for Mickey 17 didn’t work & there were allegations of a lot of fights at corporate level over it, which sounds right because if you ask me it’s basically a bizarro comedy about space Luigi Mangione
