In addition to being one of my favorite games, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1, 1997) is also one of the most cooperative photography subjects. Very easy to work with. Effortless. What a beauty. I wish every game were this photogenic. #crt #retrogaming #castlevania
Richter Belmont, seemingly under the influence of some malicious magic spell, unleashes a kung fu werewolf and a shotokan minotaur to attack our hero Alucard. They go absolutely ape shit with special attacks, and Alucard leaps into the fray.
In a twisted nightmare prison depicting the lynching death of Alucard's mother, an evil succubus spreads her leathery bat wings and prepares to attack Alucard after he thoughtfully dispels her magical ruse. Her rude titties and clam are out, but Alucard is unfazed. Nothing he hasn't seen before.
After defeating the parasitic corpse demon Legion, Alucard takes a moment to gather his thoughts amidst thousands of human skulls. His faithful faerie companion rests on his shoulder, knee-highs kicked out playfully.
Finally Alucard confronts Richter Belmont in Dracula's throne room, having solved the mystery of Castlevania. Wearing special goggles, Alucard can see the mysterious green orb, actually the Dark Priest Shaft, that is controlling Richter.

The eccentric Master Librarian of Castlevania rises from his seat to greet Alucard. Always fond of the young master, he reluctantly agrees to offer up his wares, knowing full well that they will be used to vanquish his true master and Lord of Castlevania, the Prince of Evil, Dracula.
In front of a massive painting depicting a plague of winged skeletons reaping the souls of men, Alucard does battle with a ferocious hippogryph, a chimeric monster half eagle, half horse.
Alucard bravely leaps into the tangled mess of hissing snakes and snarling wolves that constitute the body of the watery goddess Scylla, his sword hungry for violence.
Alucard clutches his cape to his chest with trepidation as the skeletal Charon ferries him up a treacherous underground river.

Koudelka comes to a close. A great game that I will remember fondly for the heart and passion that was put into the characters and performances. Mechanically it's pretty slight, making it more of a breezy spooky-themed hang-out game, which, actually, is most welcome. #crt #retrogaming #playstation
Brave Edward Plunkett, a regular guy in jeans, now finds himself wielding the blood-soaked JRPG sword named "Lifedrinker" in battle against a Biblically Accurate Angel. Life comes at you fast.
On the eve of the final battle, Koudelka and Edward polish off pilfered bottles of wine and have a fireside guts-spilling session.
Koudelka, tipsy, gives Edward a piece of her mind, explaining that her psychic powers are more curse than gift, and a source of great trauma that he could not comprehend. Her actress absolutely nails it.
Koudelka comes face to face with the possessed form of Elaine Heyworth, twisted and insectoid, intending to free her soul from torment.

Edward looks up in horror at an eldritch monstrosity composed of an extraneous amount of limbs, some of them human. He prepares to strike.
Koudelka takes in the decadent ambiance of Patrick Heyworth's quarters. Red carpet adorns the stairs. Masterwork statuary hold aloft burning candles. Marble pillars project wealth and power. Yes, Patrick Heyworth, owner of Nemeton Monastary, certainly thinks highly of himself.
In Roger Bacon's room, the party is attacked by what seems to be a mundane black cat, but this feline holds an arcane surprise. This may be my favorite CRT photo I've ever taken.
