"Do not approach and do not answer door unless two officers approach together. Call 911 to verify officer identity first” Was gunman emboldened by presidential admin’s dehumanizing treatment and arrest of sitting U.S. senators and members of Congress for doing jobs? www.the-sun.com/news/1447956...
I wrote this before knowing the suspect had a police vehicle. I can say that 1 of the things we were looking at on the ICE impersonation story is the fact that uniforms, badges, etc are readily available for sale over the internet. Maybe an uncommissioned cop car is too. We'll see where this leads.
I covered many East Village protests in late 80s in NYC and then later for the Village Voice. There are nearly *always* paid provocateurs. Also undercover law enforcement in the crowds. We could tell who in EV due to sneakers and one used to always carry a pingpong paddle. 🤷🏼 Be safe. #NoKingsDay

Fascinating: Max’s “Duster” had actor Paul Wilson—who’s played @dicknixon.bsky.social many times, including in Showtime’s “The First Ladies”—play him in a very brief, three-second appearance on this week’s ep. But they apparently used SFX to chang his face to Nixon’s actual face?

Guest Commentary: Queer Recovery and Loss, in Gleaming Bronze Very proud to publish this great essay by Robert Fieseler on the Upstairs Lounge fire, the desecration of its memorial and the constant cycle of loss and recovery the queer community endures through www.nola.com/gambit/comme...
I was in a discussion this week with fantastic journalists from across the U.S. who agreed that the NYT has not been the “paper of record” in US for a long time. There isn’t one, in fact. (And shouldn’t be anyway. That’s just a competitive marketing like saying “biggest” or “first” or such.)
BTW, as someone kinda into fashion, I’m reminding style types to dump the baseball cap-over-extensions look. It is going to be a visual symbol of these horribly dark times in the history books under “fascism.” Let it go. Seriously. Including in your own outfit pics. It’s dead.
