Tamara Lich, who Poilievre continually posts in support of, was on a panel last night alongside Diagolon/Second Sons leader Jeremy Mackenzie. They were both introduced as panelists off the top. Lich, at the end, then says the panel was made up of her “heroes” 😬
A year ago I cofounded @theflytrapmedia.com w a bunch of extremely talented feminist writers/artists. We're celebrating our first year with a 15% sale for new subscribers, as we need 950 new + recurring readers to be able to pay ourselves this year + set us up for another year of feminist badassery.
The article also argues, in a way intended to make you think these designations were widely accepted at the time, that JFK and Obama and Clinton were all moderates. Buddy, I was alive in 2007 and 2008. In neither the primary nor the GE was Obama regarded as a distinctly moderate figure. Sophistry.
While hospitals across the country were falling apart, leaving patients in crisis and facilities severely understaffed, a shocking campaign to silence and surveil critics was underway. Read @h-lev.bsky.social and @acleek.bsky.social's latest investigation into Medical Properties Trust.
Anyone who tells you that they have data showing that politics is Actually Really Easy is lying to you and themselves. I genuinely think a grown-ass adult who wants to be seen as a politics-knower should feel embarrassed to make this kind of argument in public. Go touch grass, man. Moderately.
Sad that what I experienced at a religious school has become commonplace across public schools, but also heartening to see this. My favorite English teacher once ran an underground book club, that he bought the books for and let us keep, so that kids interested could read what the school banned.
The Rutgers University Senate overwhelmingly approved a resolution in support of academic freedom, spurred by the recent right-wing attacks on Professor Mark Bray. Bray says he decided to relocate his family to Europe, after receiving death threats. www.thecarceralreport.com/p/spurred-by...

We're celebrating a year of @theflytrapmedia.com with a daily paywall drop on some classic Flytrap articles! Today, we're talking about URBAN PLANNING, which somehow accidentally became a Flytrap beat, possibly because of all the trans and/or neurodiverse people here.
I feel the same way about the New York Mag cover as I felt about the image of Óscar Alberto Martínez Ramírez and his one year old daughter Valeria. Under the first Trump admin, they drowned trying to reach the U.S. and their photo was splashed across the front page of the NYT. Who is this for?
PFF's breakdown of the Louisville-Miami game is interesting. The biggest mismatch was UM's pass rush vs. UL's O-Line. The Canes won those battles, but the Cards' quick game just neutralized it. Miami struggled to tackle, and UL made plays in space. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lU1m...
It's hard to believe @theflytrapmedia.com is celebrating it's one year anniversary! I've loved all of the wonky, funny, & insightful feminist writing & reporting we've published over the last 12 months. But we need your subscriptions to survive another year, y'all. PLEASE CONSIDER BECOMING A MEMBER
A revelatory quote in this Politico story, attributed to a Trump 1.0 official: “I do get the sense that the longer this drags on, the more this becomes kind of a loyalty test — who stays on message and who starts to flinch once the hometown pressure kicks in.” www.politico.com/news/2025/10...
U.S. Attorney Lindsey Halligan – who reportedly has U.S. marshals accompanying her for security protection within her own office – has fired two more career prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia. Plus other new developments at Trump DOJ: talkingpointsmemo.com/morning-memo...
Note: There were many religious demonstrators at this weekend’s No Kings demonstrations. I’ve seen at least one demonstrator that, in fact, waved a “No king but Jesus” sign, and I spoke with a demonstrator who held similar one at the No Kings protest this summer. religionnews.com/2025/10/18/n...
There’s a narrative that resistance to Trump’s second term is weaker than the first. Data indicates the opposite. There have actually been over 3x more protests in Trump’s second term than the first, and No Kings 2 was the largest single-day political protest in US history.
Heat seeking to crush the crash, with Magic rebounding looming large in opener. www.sun-sentinel.com/2025/10/20/h... "We don’t want to be that team that works hard for 23, 22 seconds and we’re giving up rebounds. It kind of defeats the purpose and it’s deflating."
ICYMI: For years, religious groups have applied for a special government program that helps secure worship spaces. But this year, DHS changed the conditions — such as apparently requiring grant recipients to cooperate with ICE. Now, faith groups are voicing outrage religionnews.com/2025/10/17/f...
Covered CA and other marketplaces should really be sending out their renewal notices ASAP because, like...people are gonna FREAK when they see that number and they WILL be calling their legislators to tell them they'd better not sell out our health care to reopen the government.
I sat down with Zohran Mamdani, presumptive winner of NYC's mayoral election and the internet's fave politician, for a @wired.com interview. We covered: -Big Tech capitulation to Trump -His tips for finding <3 on Hinge -The backstory of his social campaign -Linkin Park, multiple times, vv important
