The point of epic, essential journalism is to put readers in the shoes and the actual locations of those written about. Bravo, @nickjudin.bsky.social, for doing it again with such an essential story for and about the people of Mississippi. This piece is a class in how to center people, not power.
A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: The second movement (Andante) of Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 10 in Eā Major, (K. 365). It's written for two pianos, in this case performed by the sisters Katia and Marielle LabĆØque with the Berliner Philharmoniker. See you around. www.youtube.com/watch?v=7I1Z...
BTW, ABC didnāt give any coverage to the Trumpsā calls to fire Kimmel; CBS mentioned it in passing and noted the āwidowā line came along with jokes about Trumpās age/health; but NBC did a full 90-second report in which it falsely said Kimmelās joke āmade light of the presidentās death.ā
Wait, so the Trump White House is now accusing Dems of crossing this line, seriously?? Trump has provoked and encouraged political violence like no other, by an order of magnitude. I documented a ton of it hereāand this is just since the start of his second term www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

I have to say, it was legitimately wild to rewatch Project Hail Mary and see Bruce Springsteen on tour over the same weekend as the White House press dinner, like the degree to which I actively sought out hope and was also served more fuckery at the same time is truly ... well, expected

I left out a paragraph of @todseelie.bsky.social's beautiful post tonight, it is my fault!!! The story is about his time working with the band Parts and Labor. Please come read the corrected version on @flaminghydra.com, while I attempt to persuade the earth to swallow me whole (apologies, Tod!!)
Google is failing me and I want to do a holler; IIRC there was a major and fairly reliable poll done in the last month (maybe even last two weeks) that showed non-voting but likely D voters sat out '24 because Harris was perceived as not left enough does anyone ... have that on hand
Clay Travis tells Jesse Watters on Fox News that if the Dems win the midterms, Hakeem Jeffries will be the Speaker and third in the line of succession, and thus the Dems will try and kill both Trump and JD (yes, he said this, almost verbatim): "We have to prepare for everything."
In which a U.S. Senator from South Carolina ā where more Revolutionary War battles were fought than in any other state ā suggests the President build a ballroom at least partly to welcome the King of England in 2026, the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
"If I served under Joe Biden, Iād probably be worried every minute of every day that he was going to croak and that Iād have to become president. Like Iād never be able to sleep. Iād always have my cellphone as loud as possible.ā-- JD Vance to Sean Hannity, last year youtu.be/oPn9CYENbsE?...
Spirit is getting a bailout and other budget airlines are asking for more, mainly due to soaring jet fuel costs. Taking a government stake to share in the upside is reasonable, but Trump's version is laced with corruption, Bob Kuttner writes. prospect.org/2026/04/27/s...
Just a reminder: Late-night comics used to make jokes about Joe Biden being close to death because he (like Trump) was old, and nobody batted an eyelash. Trump + Melania can lie and suggest Kimmel's joke is about someone shooting Trump; it was clearly about his age. youtu.be/4Srd8oC7M90?...
Trump admin informed Congress last week that it would use money originally appropriated for global health to deal with the costs of shutting down USAID, including paying off contractors who were screwed by the DOGE rampage and are now suing. Congress, reasonably, is calling this "impoundment."
