This is, again, false. The video is from days ago, and the ballot boxes did not contain marked votes. The boxes were being used to transport signs, forms and other supplies needed to set up polling stations for yesterday's voting, Elections Canada said. factcheck.afp.com/doc.afp.com....
President Trump seeks to fire three of the five board members for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The CPB - led by a former head of the GOP - sues the White House, saying Trump doesn't have the authority to do so. My latest story for NPR www.npr.org/2025/04/29/n...
NEW: WhatsApp has created a new system for processing AI summaries and message suggestions for end-to-end encrypted chats that has similarities to Apple's Private Cloud Compute. But the differences introduce risks. @lhn.bsky.social reports: www.wired.com/story/whatsa...
It's true that Pete Hegseth just condemned the "Women, Peace & Security" program that Trump has long championed. But let's not forget that the legislation — which Hegseth called a "Biden initiative" — was also written by Kristi Noem and Marco Rubio. www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddo...
For anyone wondering why CBC still hasn't called a minority/majority government for the Liberals, it's because the party is only four SEATS away from a majority -- and there are about 11 ridings yet to be called where the margins suggest a flip is possible. We'll see what happens!
One thing that I was thought was revealing about the divisions within Canada: When Carney acknowledged Poilievre's hard work on his campaign in his victory speed, the crowd of Liberals cheered. When Poilievre mentioned Carney in his concession speech, there was loud booing.

I'm introducing my 9-year-old to 'Jurassic Park' (the book, then the movie) and so figured I'd read the sequel novel, 'The Lost World.' Wow, even by Michael Crichton's very low standards in this regard, these characters are awful cardboard cutouts. Just egregious telling-instead-of-showing writing.
“The detained are aid workers, journalists, business owners, local politicians, church leaders, and anyone suspected of resisting the invasion. They are being held at more than 180 facilities in the occupied territories and inside Russia itself.” www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...
There’s a very weird thing happening on Facebook where right-wingers are impersonating popular non-political creators (in this case a car reviewer and a comedian), building huge audiences off of their stolen content, then flooding these fake pages with click-bait Trump content. Beware.
Read this story about the final months of the incredibly brave Viktoriia Roshchyna, a Ukrainian journalist who died, age 27, in Russian prison last year. Her body showed signs of torture; the Russians returned her remains with her "brain, eyes, and larynx" missing www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...
Unparalleled corruption, in plain sight. “Several investors in World Liberty’s coin managed firms that the federal government accused of wrongdoing. They include an executive whose fraud case was suspended after he invested millions of dollars in World Liberty.” www.nytimes.com/2025/04/29/u...
At an Intel Foundry Event in San Jose, California, Lip-Bu Tan, Intel's new CEO, praised Trump's administration policy on semiconductors. "We are the only company that does all the semiconductor development process, from R&D to manufacture, in the US", said Tan.
Barber's arrest, btw, came after he *also* spoke at the Capitol Steps sit-in hosted by Minority Leader Jeffries and Sen. Cory Booker, where Rev. Dr. Leslie Copeland-Tune of the NCC and Rev. Jimmie Ray Hawkins of the Presbyterian Church (USA)'s Office of Public Witness also addressed the crowd.
I’m at the 2025 Craft Brewers Conference here in Indianapolis. I’ll be covering the country’s biggest craft brewing convention over the next few days for @vinepair.com. If you see me on the floor—difficult, because I inadvertently matched my shirt to the wall color—say hello!
If you look more closely at the quote you can see that this is actually an attempt to prep the ground to argue that supply-chain shocks are the fault of retailers, not Trump: “I wouldn’t think that we would have supply chain shocks. I think retailers have managed their inventory in front of this.”
NEW: "To mark Trump’s first (worst?) hundred days, I thought it might be fun to look at all the impeachment articles against presidents and figure out how many Trump has already matched or surpassed. "Spoiler: It has not been fun. And the answer is pretty much all of them."
Spain’s blackout, logically, took away the spotlight (no pun intended) but yesterday Nothing announced the CMF Phone 2 Pro: For 245 euros, it’s downright crazy. Good finishes, AMOLED screen 120 Hz and 50mpx main camera + telephoto + wide angle + front camera. Unfortunately, not available in the US.
NIH director Bhattacharya signed the termination letter sent to Board of Scientific Advisors members at NCI. In it, he wrote that "success of the NIH has been due in large part to the willingness of people like you to participate on advisory committees." Which raises a few questions!
On a case-by-case basis many of these were accidents. In the aggregate they constitute an ethos: a determination to break things in a way that the next person won’t be able to put back together—to shatter a way of life so that in the future, no one will even try. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
I'm excited to bring you our new writing fellow James Baratta's first story: It's about how private equity is under serious pressure: regulatory scrutiny that hasn't let up since Trump, a bad environment for deals, investors seeking to exit. prospect.org/power/2025-0...
Leaving MAGA tales are stunning. No one comes around like you'd expect. "Now that I was sober, I started thinking rationally. I thought, 'Trump doesn’t know you, & the fact that you’re even thinking about his feelings proves you have an unhealthy obsession.'" open.substack.com/pub/virginia...
