I've never seen such an effort to censor a document as I have the Amnesty International report on gender critical groups because of JK Rowling. They removed the report from the Wayback Machine and now I got a DMCA strike on my Google Drive for having it. It was deleted and removed from my account.
A quick note about the “leaked handwritten notes“ that are floating around that were released on Reddit: I haven’t posted on these documents yet as there are concerns and questions about their authenticity. I’m trying to see if they can be vetted by source(s) that can verify them.
People tell me they like suits but don't have occasions to wear one. You can wear a suit to court, funerals, and religious services. Doesn't have to be your trial, friend's burial, or religion you believe in. Go to random trials, attend a stranger's burial, join multiple religions. Try it sometime.
BREAKING NYT: A month after the Trump admin declared without evidence that thousands of noncitizens had illegally registered to vote in Nevada, DHS officials were unable to substantiate the claim — finding just 185 potential anomalies, not the 16,000 claimed last month.
NEW: Despite being ruled “permanently ineligible” from coaching by SafeSport, a Texas girls volleyball coach has continued to run his club, posting hundreds of videos in which he works with players, supervises practices and is alone with teen girls. with @washingtonpost.com
NEW: As you know, I FOIA'd the initial Epstein redaction training materials. Last month, the FBI admitted they have them but refuse to hand them over. Today, DOJ goes further, saying the training videos "have a combined length of one hour, 13 minutes, and 14 seconds." 1/
The national debt just hit $40 trillion, gas is $4 a gallon, personal bankruptcies are at an all-time high, mortgage rates are up, GDP growth is terrible, we are stuck in another endless Middle East conflict, but the Republican Party is focused on ballrooms and car races.
Parts of Indiana have been without power for 9–10 days due to storms. Tens of thousands are currently in the dark (peak was over 300,000). Puerto Rico has been rationing water for 13+ days due to severe drought. Trump has not said a word about either crisis. Not a tweet. A “Truth.” Nothing
Can't get enough of the Natalie Harp stuff. The 1:1 parallels with the girl from Obsession. Everyone in rightwing media pretending she's 16 years old so they can be mad, their favorite mood. The phrase "over-the-diaper handy" entering the lexicon. Keep it up everybody.
Chick-fil-A isn’t open on Sundays, so polls shouldn’t be either. That was one reason a GOP county board member in North Carolina offered for scaling back weekend voting during a heated North Carolina State Board of Elections meeting Thursday. www.democracydocket.com/news-alerts/...
My Latest: How this case is dismissed will be critical to the future of the pro-democracy movement. At stake is a system of criminal prosecution that could cripple political opponents of the president — or be reined in before it's too late. newsletters.democracydocket.com/the-comey-se...
"The decision by Trump to dissolve USAID — once the world’s largest humanitarian donor — gutted maternal and neonatal care, decimated nutrition programs for millions of pregnant women and children, and left scores of birthing centers devoid of equipment and medicine..." apnews.com/article/usai...
"Given the letters revealed in a 2024 New York Times article, it certainly seems that their relationship is romantic even if it isn’t sexual, at least from her end. The kind of ecstatic devotion Harp describes is beyond the normal employer-employee relationship, or even the closest friendship."
Ordinarily, if you are recorded against your will, you can try to leave the area or otherwise resist. But many people are encountering smart glasses for the first time while at their job, especially those who interact with the public. Read more from @miasato.bsky.social: buff.ly/NCRVnoe
A Florida school board that was at the epicenter of national debates over COVID mask mandates and book bans just lost its conservative majority. Two Democratic-backed candidates beat out conservatives in the school board election in Sarasota — flipping the board's majority.
'After an 18-year career at Fox News, Jennifer Hegseth is now her husband’s most influential adviser and de facto producer, shaping the job like no Pentagon spouse has before ... “It’s bonkers,” said John Ullyot, who left the Pentagon as chief spokesman after three months working under Mr. Hegseth'
🤦 Bessent's media tour was a disaster 🤦 "There's nothing magic about the $40 trillion number. We can grow our way out of that" "After the deportations that we've seen and the closing of the border, we don't need to produce as many jobs" Bessent's spin of bad data was pathetic. Here's a supercut:
part of me wonders if the discrepancy here is intentional, as the message it sends is “you are failing as a parent if you can’t feed your family like this on just 20 dollars.” also, there is a version of this meal that is much more affordable, but it relies on canned salmon and…
Yup. I know bullies online who are perfectly pleasant offline, and what I take from that is "Oh, so you know how to behave when you might get punched." And to tell on myself, this is one reason I'm a nicer person online now than I was a decade+ ago. I stopped liking that version of me, a lot.
Ka&h Patel has failed 4 different times suing for defamation and his case against The Atlantic and its reporter, Sarah Fitzpatrick, isn't looking so hot. I've got the latest details in this case, including why Patel is facing a dangerous discovery process. youtu.be/EhXAKnKHiMc?...
ICYMI — “The padres catching coordinator was taken by ICE at an airport… Oswaldo Pirela has been in 🇺🇸 legally for 10 years… Remember when they told you they were going after criminals and the worst of the worst? Turns out they’re actually just going after brown people.”
NEWS: The DNC is suing the Trump administration over its failure to turn over records about any plans to seize ballots, voting machines, or other election equipment in the midterms. Nearly five months after the requests, the DNC says the FBI and DOJ have produced nothing.
Normally when a sitting president has historically low approval ratings heading into midterms, candidates from his party in swing districts and states distance themselves from him during their campaigns. But Trump does not permit that, so they are stuck doubling down on failure.
"Politicians from both parties and judges should be prepared to push back forcefully against any attempt Trump and his allies make to interfere with the 2026 elections. If he succeeds in perverting the results, he will be emboldened to take similar steps in 2028..." www.nytimes.com/interactive/...
