“If it’s that bad you should go to the hospital”. The hospital is not a solution for many disabled people. Most of us have endured severe medical trauma. ERs are not equipped to deal with complex chronic illness and will often make a bad situation worse. We can’t “just” go to the hospital.
Shock Gloves should not exist. They have a warning that they shouldn’t be used on children, pregnant people, the elderly or those with heart issues. They shouldn’t be used on anyone. These gloves will give ICE an excuse to say someone was “resisting arrest”. They will kill.
You can’t use an em dash without being accused of using AI. I adore the em dash. I’ve used it in my writing for 20 years. If it’s being used by AI, that’s because AI stole from us. It steals from writers, artists & creators while wrecking the environment and enriching billionaires. Don’t use it
“You are all that matters to me. I don’t want to ever let you down. Thank you for being my Guardian and Protector in this Life…With all my heart, Natalie.” What the actual fuck? This is how Trump’s people talk to him? That’s so fucking scary. www.thedailybeast.com/natalie-harp...
A 2024 paper went massively viral for claiming that COVID-19 vaccines caused lots of excess deaths. I complained to the journal about it at the time - it was woeful. It was recently retracted. What went wrong and why did it take so long? gidmk.substack.com/p/covid-19-v...
The audacity of people who’ve never been to a country, and probably can’t name more than one city there (if that), to tell a person from there that they know more about that country than the person born there. With no evidence, mind you! Just strong “nuh uh” energy.

Last episode on This is Vancouver we played a 20-minute long interview with Ken Sim about his plebiscite. This episode we play full interviews with @seanorr.bsky.social about COPE's People's Audit, and with @kareem42.bsky.social on his pitch for a ward system. Glad we're providing this service!
The things I talk about constantly: The huge benefits to switching from gas to induction cooking (massive increase in indoor air quality & lower GHGs) Buying & commuting as much as possible on an ebike (personal fitness, mental health & lower GHGs) Calling out government inaction & hypocrisy.
“I was piecing all of these things together and then asking, ‘Well, what’s happening in medieval Stirling that could explain this?’” said Dr. Jo Buckberry, a biological anthropologist at the University of Bradford in Bradford, England... “The obvious answer is the use of the trebuchets.”

Working my way through Ebola SitRep #83. There are now two well-functioning provincial lab networks processing ~400 samples a day; Ituri & North Kivu. Huge loads of positive material passing through these labs. Sometimes 80-100+ positive samples/day. Every one a biohazard risk; not just for BDBV 1/2
A large study of 315,612 people found Long COVID was linked to a higher risk of heart, kidney and lung problems across all ages. Risk was especially high in younger adults, particularly young women for heart and kidney problems, and young men for pulmonary outcomes. Published: 20 August 2026
There is a direct through line from the kind of emboldened racism that unleashed the media on Professor Jason Arday, hounding him until his death, and the openly racist comments people feel comfortable making now. This is an issue non-Black people must address, and not enough are doing so.
Genuinely not sure what made this person decide I’m the worst person around, but I did notice almost everyone involved in her little pile on had “commie” in their name. Anyway, I think it’s bizarre to suggest she knows Iranians better than an Iranian, even more bizarre to say I’m anti-Iranian.
"The recall is due to potential contamination," the notice says. The recall affects 15mL bottles of Clear Eyes' Maximum Itchy Eye Relief, which mitigates itchiness, redness and other eye irritations, according to the product description. The eye drops were distributed nationwide.”
Consumer Reports just tested 13 electric scooters. buff.ly/odTeVwY 🛴 👉They recommend NONE of them! Standing riders have a higher center of mass and often fall headfirst. Even CR's own testers got injured testing them, while wearing safety gear. #medsky #pedsky #EDsky
“We do not need parks. We do not need libraries. We do not need daycare centers. We do not need homeless shelters,” said Vader. “All we need is money for our stormtroopers. And anyone that disagrees is part of the rebel alliance and scum, and they should be taken away immediately.”
Hey, Americans: Trump is you. You are Trump. You are no better than him. You may like to think that. But as a Native woman, let me tell you: you're not. It's why you hate him so much. It's why you'd prefer literally ANYONE else as President. Because with him, you have to look at the mirror.
While everyone is concerned about ICE acquiring “Shock Gloves”, it’s important to note they’re already being used in schools and jails. A man in Kentucky was killed when a guard held the glove on him for over a minute. Even more egregious, shock devices have been used for years on disabled kids:
Slow growers that I thought would fail, finally turning into something 🌱 Basil just...wouldn't grow this year. But it's tomato time so I've been taking frequent little snips, seems to be helping. Bell pepper was stalled even worse but it has a fruit! Will it ever ripen to red?
It’s been a better than average library summer when it comes to my branch’s ability to help newcomers where they’re at and connect them to services, because of a summer programmer, library assistant, settlement worker and washroom attendant who all speak multiple languages.
people in prince george are big mad that barkerville is considered a roadside attraction for this bracket and to that I would say: - around a dozen people nominated it months ago - it fits with the spirit of the competition - if you can't beat barkerville, you aren't beating cathedral grove
