Peter Falk and Leslie Neilson were a year apart in age. Which means that, canonically, Columbo and Frank Drebin were at the Los Angeles Police Academy at the same time. They probably both committed massive civil rights violations at the direction of Chief Parker in the late 40s and early 1950s.
the more atrocities you see the powers at be commit, you really start seeing the same justification points over and over and over again. this veil of unknowable pre-existing health conditions is constantly used to manufacture consent for police killings of unarmed black people. (i.e. george floyd)
hello i wrote a new book it’s called EXPENSIVE BASKETBALL it’s the coolest book i’ve ever written, and the longest book i’ve ever written (352 pages!!!), and the weirdest book i’ve ever written i love it it’s available for preorder today www.amazon.com/Expensive-Ba...
In a year where the Niners were wrecked by injuries, Brock Purdy was 4th league-wide in QBR on third down—and even better under pressure. On the NFC West preview @jourdanrodrigue.bsky.social and I discussed why SF paid him. 🎧: apple.co/3JbXYvO 📺: youtu.be/EAbwccix8Sc?...
That Mina did not just instantly cut the feed after my incredibly corny/terrible/nervous NFC West slogans in the show open offers yet another example of why she’s one of the best people among us - though maybe stronger proof in her favor if she HAD cut it.
In Jhoan Duran, the Phillies get a dominant closer with some of the best stuff in baseball. Mick Abel is a big league-ready starter with first-round pedigree. And Eduardo Tait is a catcher in Class A with massive power and a big arm. First to say deal was close: @Ken_Rosenthal.
In latest poll a majority of NYC Jewish voters are voting Mamdani. Yet CNN’s Kacie Hunt asked Andrew Cuomo (both non-Jews) about Mamdani “talking about” a slogan he never said that they claim means something it decidedly does not. Either we’re suicidally stupid or Kasie Hunt is a hack. Your call.
Phillies-Twins deal is done: In Jhoan Duran, they acquire the hard-throwing closer they craved. He's under club control through 2027. Mick Abel was always their preferred trade chip. Eduardo Tait, who does not turn 19 until August, is a strong catching prospect years away from majors.
NEWS: ESPN has cut ties with Shannon Sharpe less than two weeks after he settled a lawsuit in which his ex-girlfriend accused him of rape, sources tell @andrewmarchand.bsky.social. Sharpe has not been on the network since late April. ESPN declined to comment. www.nytimes.com/athletic/652...
My initial reaction is that the Twins got a reasonable return for Jhoan Duran, but nowhere near enough to convince me that trading him was a must with 2 1/2 seasons of team control remaining. This is good value, but not great value. Both prospects have clear upside, though.
Tyler Rogers is really good. Submariner who doesn't throw hard but just gets outs. Has a 1.80 ERA this season and 2.74 over the last five years. Consistent relievers are hard to come by, and Rogers, who's a free agent after this season, has been a model of consistency.
In today's newsletter: the Texas Rangers had already inducted Josh Hamilton into their Hall of Fame. Now they're giving him a second ceremony, specifically to give him a jacket. That's a hell of a lot of celebrating of a convicted child abuser. www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...
I think we do ourselves a huge disservice to call these things "senseless" bc it actively discourages us from seeking solutions and root causes. Like "I cannot make sense of this bc I cannot put myself in that state of mind" is understandable, but is not a good broad approach
the part that sticks with me: these are such *low* effort swipes at your intelligence and focus you know what would help an ailing child? food whats drugs got to do with a knee being in george floyds neck for 9 minutes? eric garner being heavy aint the reason he died
Ravens standout TE Isaiah Likely will have surgery this week to fix a broken bone in his foot, sources say. The belief is he’s out about 6 weeks, though depending on the outcome it could be fewer. While Likely could be ready for Week 1, the best news is it’s not long-term.
