Schumer thinks he still lives in a world where political moves now can affect political moves later. He doesn’t. We live in a world where a fucking loon is raping and destroying the country, and the only thing that matters is whether you vote “yes” or “no” on whether he should be allowed to do that.
My latest piece @thenation.com PART II of a Series on Trans-Athletes, this one focusing on the trans-feminine athletes who have been the most demonized. They've been the focus of constant commentary while they themselves have been deliberately unheard. Hear them. www.thenation.com/article/soci...
Reminded of when some College Republican went on Tucker Carlson to show everyone how he'd been photoshopped as a saltine cracker. No one would have seen these things if you hadn't gone on national tv to whine about them (also, I assume this kid a federal judge now).
You'd think all the Dems would be clawing over each other to do grand resistance spectacles. Why are you a politician if you don't wanna put on a show and get yourself over with the crowd. That's the whole point of the job. Pretty sure Schumer would sell more books if he started saying badass shit
Everyone always focuses on the guy standing to talk in the Rockwell Town Meeting meme. But this guy, who resonates with me, doesn’t get enough credit. I am often like this guy in meetings, sitting there with a funny grin on my face being like, ooh, this dipshit is going to say something so stupid.
Not sure that the Senate Democrats can survive as an opposition party if 7 are voting against the interests of the other 39 (and the full house delegation). The intra-party squabbling that will result from the couture vote passing might be worse for members than the effects of a shutdown.
I appreciate the optimism behind the idea that one day people will pretend that they were against fascism, but I don’t think anything in United States country really supports this considering that there’s no real consequences for anything evil. And it’s actually good morals that gets punished.
Returning home: Rams WR Cooper Kupp is expected to sign with the Seahawks, per The Insiders. He’s likely to make $15M per year or more. Sam Darnold gets a new weapon, while the Yakima, WA native & Eastern Washington product lands 2 hours from where he played HS football.
My takeaway is that it’s a reminder not to pay too close attention to the news, especially things that you can’t control. If you assumed that Democrats would fail at 9am and just did your work or whatever, you would have been as disappointed as if you’d tracked each update and gotten your hopes up.
The Bengals have made significant progress on massive contract extensions with star WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, and both could be finalized in the coming days, sources tell me and @tompelissero.bsky.social. There is work to be done. But Joe Burrow's wish is close to coming true.
