A situation where, no shade to Dave, having a trans person in a newsroom is great for follow ups like "Do you believe trans women who are by and large treated as women in society are really men," and "Do you believe these bans should be extended to bathrooms and other contexts?"
@rikiwilchins.bsky.social 2026 Apr RITM On TDOV Romanian court orders legal recognition of trans man's gender since he was already legally male in UK. 1st enforcement landmark EU 2024 ruling that member states must recognize gender changes obtained elsewhere. Ruling is final & can't be appealed.
@rikiwilchins.bsky.social 2026 Apr WSVN Gov DeSantis' FL Dept of Transportation and tore out Miami Beach's iconic gay pride sidewalk under cover of night. Now, Miami Beach is re-assembling all 3,606 colorful pavers just feet away in the city-owned park bordering the ocean in time for Pride.
I am in the waiting room of my doctor's office and some asshole is watching a video on their phone with no headphones. Another is reading social media out loud to their spouse. I can hear this all from across the room and am trying to stop myself from hoping whatever they have is terminal
"Rozz was a very young gay man singing about blood, loneliness, guilt and death at the start of “Gay Cancer” aka the AIDS crisis." To mark the anniversary of his death I updated the essay I wrote about Rozz Williams and Christian Death for @marchxness.bsky.social's March Vladness contest.
Things have really ground to a halt in Frankfort, as the House and Senate are both in a prolonged recess. House GOP leadership and budget chairs are skirting in and out of a conference room. I don't think they've finished the budget bill yet. 12 hours to midnight and the veto period. #kyga26
The hot rumor of the day in Frankfort (and a nasty one, at that) is that legislators will go PAST MIDNIGHT tonight, as they have an extra day to meet and they can override any veto of bills on Day 60 April 15, so the bills would still be veto proof. Nasty, nasty rumor. #kyga26
Been following several people commenting on the 14th amendment arguments, and wait. What is this thing I’m feeling? Could it be… hope? That orange bastard is sitting there glaring at the justices, but it really sounds like they’re gonna stick it to him this time.
On Friday, the Temple Wildcats baseball team beat the Killeen Kangaroos 41-1. Temple scored 24 runs in the second inning in that game. Then the next game, Temple pitcher Champ Mayo (who had 4 RBIs in the 41-0 game) no-hit Killeen in a game where Temple scored another 15 runs.
People, if, rn, you're making announcements that you want to be circulated widely, please understand that, in much of the U.S. on Bluesky, you will be swamped by comments on the Supreme Court's Birthright Citizenship Argument that is live. Don't be discouraged. Just re-send in a couple of hours.
I'm sorry, I saw someone mention Amy Coney Barrett saying "yeah yeah yeah, but what about the Constitution" in the birthright citizenship arguments, and I assumed it was a paraphrase/snarky translation of a question she asked, but now I'm being led to believe those are actually words that she said?

In this week's Hell Gate Podcast, we chatted about our hottest takes from Hell Gate's March Madness of NYC Hot Takes 2026 bracket, including... whether you should be able to use surface-to-air missiles should be legalized... podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/t...
This is such a Roberts move: take the case, be part of the majority that votes it down, but in doing so, lend the case undue legitimacy that opens the door to a reversal later. I hate that we have to hear these arguments and that there will likely be 2 votes against birthright citizenship.
With the jalapeño’s heat deliberately dulled to the point of soullessness, Texans have only one option. We must discard the jalapeño—in pico de gallo, on nachos, and cooked alongside meats, for starters—and embrace its spicier sibling, the serrano, as our everyday chile.
It has, objectively, been an absolutely shit start to the week for the Brooklyn Democratic Party establishment, several of whom—a sitting NYC councilmember, an aide to Gov. Kathy Hochul, and the husband of the BK Dems boss—are suddenly implicated in an alleged corruption and bribery scandal.
