Part of reality now... constantly hitting refresh on @annabower.bsky.social feed from Judge Xinis' courtroom regarding Kilmar Abrego Garcia, hoping the rule of law will somehow survive in the United States.

Judge Xinis is set to haul the government in front of her bench over the next two weeks and make them explain under oath what they're doing. I know the timeline seems awful given that Kilmar remains locked up. But this is not a case where she can just order him brought back tomorrow, given Bukele.

And that's it. Hearing over. There will be an expedited discovery period, with depositions set to be completed by 4/23.

👉 Judge Xinis seems inclined to hold the Trump administration in contempt of court. 👈 She ordered them to reveal all plans to return Mr. Garcia from El Salvador ASAP. "Cancel vacation, cancel other appointments" she said to Trump's lawyers. (NYT) 🇺🇸 #Trump #Deportation #Bukele #Resist

Short hearing, and Xinis was all business. She dismissed. The DOJ objections is already dealt with and said it’s time to move to discovery, which will be very very rapid. DOJ proffered the oval office meeting yesterday; she wants evidence gathered under the evidence rules.

A judge drew the line: deporting Kilmar Abrego Garcia violated the law. The regime spat on the court and lied. Judge Xinis didn’t blink. The regime is in contempt. If America has a pulse left, it’s beating in her gavel. The regime’s on trial now. #ContemptOfRegime #LineInTheSand #DoNotSubmit

An absolute banger of a hearing live-skeet ⬇️ If you’ve ever wondered what a judge who is absolutely sick of being run around the block by obstinate council does in response, Judge Xinis delivers a masterclass

HAPPENING NOW: At the federal courthouse in Greenbelt, Maryland, Judge Paula Xinis is set to begin a hearing on the government’s efforts – or lack thereof – to “facilitate” the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Maryland resident who was wrongly removed to El Salvador. Follow along for updates ⬇️

Takeaways from this. Judge Xinis is a saint, Counsel Ensign is a ginormous bag of dicks, and the government is taking the position of Gaslight gaslight gaslight keep gaslighting until people believe what we say is reality.

Anybody betting that Kilmar won't have passed from "an unfortunate medical emergency" before the depositions in judge Xinis' court have been completed?

One common thread in the Abrego Garcia and the JJG cases is DOJ's attorney, Drew Ensign. He was the "grillee" in CJ Boasberg's rule to show cause hearing (JJG). He was before Judge Xinis Tuesday and last Friday (Abrego Garcia). Will we see work by any caving pro bono'ers?

Irreparable harm': Judge rebukes Trump DOJ in clash over wrongly deported dad. The Justice Department clashed with U.S. District Court Judge Xinis in a Tuesday hearing over what the U.S. government acknowledged was an accidental deportation of a Maryland father. Kilmar Ábrego García was shipped to

“Suggesting how expeditiously she intends to move, Judge Xinis tells Drew Ensign, the Justice Department lawyer, that he should clear his calendar... “Cancel vacation,” she says. “Cancel other appointments. I’m usually pretty good about this in my courtroom, but not this time.”

I do wonder whether a judge like Xinis beginning occasionally to put 'contempt of court', 'DOJ counsel' and/or 'those instructing the DOJ' in the same sentence, might act as a small wake-up call for those weaselling around actually carrying out court orders, thereby depriving citizens of liberty.

Watched Judge Xinis this afternoon. I can say for certain that she is gathering evidence for contempt in compliance with Cobell v. Babbitt. This could set the judiciary up for more teeth behind their injunctions. While district courts don't wield extraordinary power, the UET is under attack.
