Gela Khasaia: Around 10 people detained me and took me to the station. Prosecutor: He came to the station on his own. Hmm… who to believe. Who to believe?! The pretrial detention hearing is underway for Gela Khasaia, opposition party member and activist. He faces 4-6 years.

At Gela Khasaia’s court hearing, the prosecutor outright lied, claiming he “appeared at the police station on his own.” This came after Khasaia pointed out that the arrest report listed the wrong time. He says he was actually arrested on his way home, in his own neighborhood.

Gela Khasaia’s trial is in progress. Prosecutors demand his imprisonment. In court he said police took him to a room with 20 officers, stripped him naked twice, and mocked him for his ties to other political prisoners, calling them all “violent thugs.” #GeorgiaProtests

October 4 is going to be a big political watershed one way or another, and it’s disturbingly full of uncertainty in both how it might unfold as well as its potential outcomes. #GeorgiaProtests

UNM politician and Tbilisi City Council member Zviad Kuprava has just been arrested over "calls to overthrow the state authorities." He’s been vocal regarding the October 4 grand rally, and in particular, he called for the disruption of the sham local elections process.

For the past three weeks, almost every single day the regime’s courts have been announcing evacuations, claiming to receive bomb threats. I’m afraid there’s something more to this; that it could be used to frame some of the protesters.

JUST IN: the regime has trumped-up an even heavier charge against Gela Khasaia: group violence leading to light damage to health, implying 4-6 years in jail. Anyone who has seen or spoken to Gela knows how ridiculous this is. Apparently, he’s been a big trouble for the regime.

New political prisoner in Georgia: activist Gela Khasaiya of Girchi – More Freedom. On Sept 1, 3 strangers asked him to buy beer, then fought each other. Weeks later, one had a broken arm. Gela never argued, but now faces up to 3 yrs. Another case of pre-Oct 4 repression.
