Love using shaders to do mesh transformations. It's not only great in terms of performance optimization, but the main benefit is to encapsulate an art/visual design decision on a lower level of implementation with a thin but expressive API.

Gosh, I wish I worked in more HCI-related research, because there's a study I think NEEDS to be done - Take the Turing Test and instead swap the goal from "human" to expert. Have people describe via text a legal or technical problem and give answers from chatgpt and a true expert. Then poll users.

Meanwhile on Facebook That's it, just the photo and that caption. The link is buried in comments. Award-winning UX.
Silver SUV driving on the beach, headlined "Florida sunbathers keep getting run over by cars on the beach" and the caption below, "I was just screaming."

Now feels like I'm tempted to check for the Yu Gi Oh Figmas and next time I go to GameXchange if they still have Yu Gi Oh Statues may pick up one since last time I was there they did have the Blue Eyes Dragon. But gotta avoid falling into Yu Gi Oh and Poke'mon collecting....

Today on the #Disability Daily #Podcast we remember #SouthAfrican disability rights advocate with #OsteogenesisImperfecta Madge Bester & #blind American #RollerDerby skater Sammy Skobel. Listen & read transcript #dwarfism #SouthAfrica #LowVision #VisionLoss #accessibility #sports #skiing #a11y
Madge Bester wearing a black and white checkered dress, red socks, and glasses. Her hair is pulled back, and she smiles at the camera sitting in a wheelchair.
Black-and-white photo of roller derby skater Sammy Skobel wearing jersey number 14, knee pads, and quad skates. He is crouched slightly forward in an athletic stance, hands resting on his knees, with his name printed to the left.

Shoutout to the European company that had a whole local event to get SWs to sign up for their ad site to get their name established in the US and asked for unpaid UX usability testing from us at the event, only to send out an email saying they're getting rid of the FS section a couple weeks later. 🙄

I really appreciate how ChatGPT finishes every query with a question. "Can I help you help / write/ design / do something...." It's like the "yes and..." of product design

Morrowind is my personal favorite, but I can understand most people can't get past the clunkiness. Oblivion is a lot more user-friendly, while still retaining some of that slow immersive pace and charm

i just know some designer’s manager is absolutely SAUCING on the makings of a medium post about how user interface design is ground zero for the resistance

White House says Amazon's decision to desplay tariff-based price increases on products is a "a hostile and political act by Amazon," who they accuse of working with "a Chinese propaganda arm."

First post on Bluesky... to share that I'm starting to write a blog about UX/AI: diegoux.com/blog/ai-isnt... Even when I started working on Internet-related companies in '98, I'm still not used to sharing random thoughts on social networks. It's a "language" on its own.

The Future of AI in UX Isn't Just Chat

I'm not against price sliders. They can be handy, like in mortgage calculators when you're roughly estimating how many kidneys you'll need to part with. But here? Total usability disaster.

Can gamedevs code it anymore tho? I was under the impression it was the consoles themselves who forced their own keyboard UX on games, specially if you actually need keyboard support

The gradual reduction of design to being a post-production process applied to a product to further its usability and market appeal has left us surrounded by tech products that are asking for our money while offering a collection of primitives that *might* be useful for *something*

Today in design patents: D1072869 issued to Ferrari for a display screen with graphical user interface. I remain fascinated by the luxury virtual goods licensing into digital media and have so many questions. #DesignPatents

I agree the cryptography is not the hard part, but I think--and I think this was Matt's point as well--passwords have attractive UX properties (mainly: can be synced via sneakernet between platforms; can be backed up via post-it note) that turn out to be significant challenges for FIDO.
