We fought for our independence. We fought to end slavery. We fought against the rise of fascism in Europe. We fought for civil rights. I refuse to believe we have lost the will to fight for what is right and just.

Breaking news: New civil rights division chief said more than 100 attorneys have left their jobs, in many cases because they disagreed with the office’s new focus on combating anti-Christian bias, transgender athletes in women’s sports, and “woke ideology.”

I predicted Harmeet Dhillon would destroy the DOJ's Civil Rights Division and reverse years and years of progress. "The division changed mission statements across its sections to focus less on racial discrimination and more on fighting diversity initiatives and anti-Christian bias."

Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker: "Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption. But I am now. These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. They must understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have."

Trump’s DOJ ordered ICE agents to conduct home raids without a warrant, in clear violation of the 4th Amendment. And three American children were just unlawfully deported, including one with cancer. Where is the outrage from the so-called “party of freedom”?

The Civil Rights Division “persecuted” police departments throughout its long history, precisely *because* they were violating civil rights laws. I’m not sure if Harmeet Dhillon is completely ignorant of that history or just a shameless liar, but this is idiotic. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/28/u...
“Now, over 100 attorneys decided that they’d rather not do what their job requires them to do, and I think that’s fine,” Harmeet K. Dhillon, the new head of the division, said in an interview with the conservative commentator Glenn Beck over the weekend, welcoming the turnover and making plain the division’s priorities.

“We don’t want people in the federal government who feel like it’s their pet project to go persecute” police departments, she said. “The job here is to enforce the federal civil rights laws, not woke ideology.”

Off-brand post but did you ever go on a sunshine picnic with the person you love, lie in their lap looking up at the trees, and feel so, so peaceful? Goes hard, highly recommend 🥰❤️☀️

Let me be clear, we're in a perilous moment in this country. Donald Trump is taking away our economic and civil rights — and Americans are feeling helpless and powerless. It's time to step out of your comfort zone, into the streets, and make your voice heard.

The United States has an autocratic leader, limited civil liberties, a secret police force that grabs people off the streets and send them to torture camps, unusually high rates of infant mortality, and an economy that’s about to start contracting. So why doesn’t Canada want to join?

Here's the thing - I pay $5.80 round trip to get in and out of Manhattan. Duffy isn't asking for freedom, he's asking for me to subsidize the costs of him driving into New York as a taxpayer. He wants a free lunch because he's a special beep-beep vroom-vroom boy.

Duffy: "She wants to take people off the road and she's taxing people to do it, raising money for the subway system in New York. But then, to put people in the subway -- the subway is dirty! There's violence. There's criminals. It's not safe ... By the way, I like freedom. Let me drive my car."

that Biden chose unwavering support for the Israeli genocide and Netanyahu - who was actively supporting his opponent - over anything, even the threat of Donald Trump, will define his legacy an abhorrent decision on every level

US official Nides claims Biden was under "enormous pressure nside the White House to change his position." but that he stood by Israel.

Despite his animosity toward Netanyahu, Biden stood by Israel through the end of his term.
"This was the most significant political peril of Joe Biden's political career. The easiest thing for Joe Biden... to do if he was worried about the votes in Michigan, is to basically get a little soft.
He refused to do it," Nides said.
"There was an enormous pressure on [Biden] inside the White House to change his position.
So, when I hear comments about [how] he wasn't good enough, or he didn't have Israel's back, am I disgusted by it? 100%. Is it true? 100% no."

🧵NEW: The House GOP's reconciliation package would DRAMATICALLY reshape immigration via fees, and as noted below, undermine judges' contempt powers. First, one big change would be an $1,000 fee to apply for asylum, plus $550 every 6 months for work permits and $100 for every year the case drags on.

The House Judiciary Cmt released their reconciliation bill. In addition to immigration measures, it transfers *all* FTC antitrust actions to the attorney general, among other antitrust provisions, plus does the following w/ courts judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

"No court of the United States may use appropriated funds to enforce a contempt citation for failure to comply with an injunction or temporary restraining order if no security was given when the injunction or order was issued pursuant to Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 65(c), whether issued prior to, on, or subsequent to the date of enactment of this section."
