Left: DOJ/Ed Martin today tout the firearm conviction of a man with a history of domestic violence Right: DOJ says Trump's Jan. 6 pardon eliminates the firearm conviction of a man with a history of domestic violence. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

A funny thing to me about French philosophy is the consistent theme--from the Enlightenment to Marxism to existentialism to feminism to decolonialism to postmodernism--of the importance of being able to take a walk

The Justice Department canceled grants used to train lawyers who work with survivors of domestic violence & sexual assault. So we're suing on behalf of the American Bar Association. This blatant act of retaliation against @americanbar.org is unconstitutional & we will hold DOJ accountable in court.

If an all male US Supreme Court hearing a case about abortion rights blocked all women from making submissions before it and accepted as evidence from male anti-abortionists bullshit 'facts' which it refused to allow anyone to test I would, I can assure you, vigorously criticise it too.

One of the things I've been meaning to write about is that a lot of straight women who engage with feminism, who have progressive beliefs, the kind to have a fairly strong opinion on the term 'heteropessism', have a lesbian feminist inside their heads watching them, to paraphrase Margaret Atwood.

Yeah. I’ve been using women’s facilities since around 2002, and I know from personal experience that to use men’s facilities is to guarantee sexual harassment *at best*. If the people requiring that we do this were capable of seeing us as human, they would understand how disgusting they are being.

Friendly reminder that trans people have been using public bathrooms forever but it's only been a Problem of National Importance since like 2016

Reading Butler's 1999 preface to 'Gender Trouble' and this is my mood about being a lesbian feminist in 2025.
Meme template based on Doctor Manhattan ('Watchmen' comic) walking on Mars, describing the recurrence of events through time.

Panel 1: It is 1970. Adrienne Rich is critiquing the heterosexual default in feminism.

Panel 2: It is 1978. Monique Wittig is critiquing the heterosexual default in feminism.

Panel 3: It is 1989. Judith Butler is critiquing the heterosexual default in feminism.

Important thread on the ways that (contrary to those who exceptionalise trans people's difficulties with it) the EHRC is systematically failing to address racism, disability, misogyny and so on. Knowledge of this should spur us to form a joint coalition of human rights defence on all these fronts.

For people wondering why the UK's Equality And Human Rights Commission is acting counter to human rights, I'll c+p a combination of threads from a couple of years ago. They cover the systemic attack on many marginalised communities by idealogues trying to dismantle human rights law. 1/

A ridiculous law, pushed by the paranoid &prejudiced which sets back women’s rights (being defined by the content of our knickers rather than our characters is what feminism fights) & further marginalises the already marginalised. Stupid, cruel & unenforceable. www.theguardian.com/society/2025...

Britain does not dictate Irish law. Or Irish feminism ‘Easter commemorations are always a good reminder that .. Ireland is not part of an extinct British empire, and our feminism is our own’. I agree, Irish feminism is intersectional & trans inclusive #speirgorm www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2025...

Ending violence against women must be a national priority - and under our government, it is. We've introduced 10 days paid family and domestic violence leave, made the $5,000 Leaving Violence Program permanent, and invested hundreds of millions into frontline services.

Are you better off than you were 100 days ago? How about the students running for their lives on college campuses? The domestic violence victims who are seeing abusers rearmed? The communities impacted by 90 mass shootings without an Office of GVP? You know who IS better off? The gun industry.
