everyone on their side of things understands how much of a problem collective bargaining is for them.

"The Trump administration has been worried schools would team up in resistance, because it is harder to negotiate with a united front, according to a source familiar with the government task force."

In Wilcox (the Trump emergency application about whether he can fire without cause members of the NLRB and MSPB), Chief Justice Roberts's "administrative stay" (allowing Trump to fire them) has now been in place for *19 days.* That's quite a long time for what's supposed to be a temporary order...

There's no labor movement without democracy and there's no democracy without the labor movement. I joined @afscme.bsky.social to discuss how MAGA's cuts to Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid undermine the achievements of democracy and will devastate our families.

I am so proud receive the endorsement of IATSE Local 161 — the union of Script Supervisors, Production Coordinators, Travel Coordinators and Accountants. You won't see these hardworking union members on screen but they make our favorite films and TV shows possible.
A graphic of Zohran in the foreground shouting with a hand in the air, and union members holding IATSE signs in the background. Big lettering reads: "IATSE LOCAL 161 ENDORSES ZOHRAN"

It truly is a more serious problem for people like Matt Yglesias and Jonathan Chait if you think public school teachers deserve collective bargaining rights than if you think certain races are genetically predisposed to be more violent and stupid than other races.

Busy weekend in the Bay closing out our district work period- before I head back to D.C. for votes. I spoke at a community hearing with workers from the Berkeley REI to advocate for worker rights in CA-12 and across the nation. I also attended an event highlighting Black leaders in the Bay!

There is an intensifying battle between 70k grocery workers and the Goliath companies Kroger and Albertsons. First, UFCW locals took down the merger, now they're fighting for new contracts at the same time and, in at least one case, striking! My latest.

Unions stopped Kroger and Albertsons from pulling off the biggest supermarket merger in American history. But with contract expirations looming, the fight for grocery workers is just beginning. Read @sarahlazare.bsky.social on the struggle ahead.

I welcome this news that blocks Trump’s atrocious attack on public-sector workers’ collective bargaining rights. But the fight isn’t over—I’ll continue to speak up and out to protect our unions from overreach.

I encourage you to watch my videos on prepping for a general strike. It's easy to call for one, but you have to have all of the preparation completed and the groundwork laid and we aren't there yet. When we have a general strike we need it to succeed. @generalstrikeus.bsky.social

I honestly don’t know what people think democrats can do. They have no power. Bernie and AOC can hold all the rallies they want, it’s not going to change anything. Neither are these protests that only happen on weekends when it’s convenient. Only one thing can stop this shit
GENERAL STRIKE!

that's pretty crazy given how centered manufacturing workers are in *everything* Fain and UAW national has done (to the general exclusion of the non-auto workers who have stopped the union's membership drop) but I guess that's not enough for them

UAWD’s years of dogged rank-and-file organizing work is the reason we have Shawn Fain, but it seems that the caucus has increasingly wrestled with conflicting visions/priorities for the group. A UAWD doc shared with me noted that manufacturing workers in particular have felt unheard and outnumbered.

General Strike US - Illinois Chapter

A general strike could look like this. This is what I want to do instead of going to work.

Lincoln Square Road Closure and Accompanying Comments From The Local Facebook Page (April 2025)

Picture of kids and adults gathering on Lincoln Square, playing jump rope. Text overlay saying "I will never understand the appeal of playing in a street"
Picture of Chicagoans of all ages lounging on Lincoln square, enjoying a beautiful spring day. The sun is out and there is chalk art covering the ground. In the foreground a man in sunglasses sits on a yellow bench. Text from a local facebook group reads "It's really unfortunate that they feel the need to create this kind of chaos for the community, our square, and the small businesses trying to thrive here, this feels like a targeted effort."
a man blows bubbles for a group of children playing in Lincoln Square, the kids are jumping and pointing at the bubbles. many adults are circled around watching. A quote from the Lincoln Square facebook page reads "FORGET ABOUT IT. Ban kids from playing in the street."
A wide shot of Lincoln Square. People are congregating in the road, lined up to patronize local businesses, or sitting on the curb watching neighbors stroll by. A truncated facebook comment states "how dare you... People like you in this community absolutely disgust me."
