A driver reported a loss of power and damage to a pantograph - a mechanical attachment used to connect trams to overhead power lines - in the city centre at about 10:15 BST. It led to cancellations and disruption to services in Manchester and on lines between Ashton-under-Lyne and Eccles after damage to overhead power lines.

The one exception to all this in Scunthorpe the praise for the government on stepping in to save the steelworks, some were frustrated it took so long but almost everyone felt it had “saved the town”. Question is how can the Government or any party show they can do more like that

Caught an old Illinois Central locomotive going by while I ate lunch at the Black Dog in Champaign (situated in an old train station). Lincoln worked for the IC, which ran in our state for ~150 years until being taken over by CN around 2000. I’m told they still run ~40 of these 25 yrs later.
