Sign Petition: Greedy New Mining Operations Risk Extinction for Oldest, Rarest Orangutans on Earth

Tapanuli apes are the oldest orangutans, and only 800 are left alive today. A mining company doesn't care. (485 signatures on petition)

However it isn't clear if anyone will ever be deployed, and it is not clear what each group will do and where. Indonesia is training their soldiers for "construction" and "healthcare services". Turkey wants oversight of the Palestinian technocratic government. Egypt wants to lead reconstruction.

The 10,000 number is a little odd but we shall see in the coming weeks why that it is in the reports. Indonesia alone is training upwards of 20,000 and Turkey has been training more than 5,000. Egypt and Turkey are also training 5-10,000 Palestinian police officers.

Indonesians hate the government simply bc they’re unreliable. We’ve never known of successful, coherent policies that improves quality of life. Constant news of corruption & foolish antics by government officials only strengthen the hatred. The worst part is it’s known but never fixed

Indonesia has always had moments where the people expressed their hatred towards the government & its president. The difference now is that the hatred is more visible, making its spread much faster. But to say this was unexpected isn’t a sound judgement of where Indonesia is rn

10 December 2025

On Human Rights Day—and every day—we honour the dignity, safety, and rights of all people. Today, APNSW stands in deep solidarity with our communities and partners across Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, an Thailand who have been severely impacted by the recent cyclone, We extebd iyr resoect abd enoathy to all who are suffering loss, displacement, and uncertainty. As always, marginalized groups, including sex workers, LGBTQI communities, migrants, and people living in poverty, are the first to be deprioritized in times of crisis an the last to receive suppoort. We cal on governments and humanitarian actors to ensure no one is left behind.

We are also gravely concerned by the escalating persecution of LGBT communities in Malaysia, incuding recent raids and threats. APNSW fully supports demmands for an independent, transparent investigation into these violations and urges authorities to uhold human rights. due process, and the safety of all people regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

Acreoss our region and beyond, human rights continue to be threatened—from th ongoing violence in Palestin to the continued struggle for freedom and safety faced by our closest relatives in Myanmar. We raffirm that non of us are fre until all of us are fre.

APNSW remains commited to advocating for justice, dignity, and quality for sex workrs and all marginalized communities. Human rights are universal, non-negotiable, and must be protected every single day.

The Indonesian government shrugged has so far shrugged off suggestions to call for international assistance. Maybe one day major media will cover the disaster every day. We are responsible for disaster. Palm oil in everything. They won’t call for assistance to protect the destroyers of forest. 🌳
